Chicken Update

Sadly, we have gotten rid of our former rooster, Doe. The reason was because he was being too aggresive. He was the only rooster in our coop and he thought he was the king. He  also crowed to much. We live in a small city so we have noise oridnances. He would crow at like one o' clock in the morning.
Doe went to live with Southern Blessings because she live in the country and has other roosters. Doe actually got picked on as soon as he got there. While my mom was there, she and Southern Blessings decided to go to a livestock auction. Southern Blessings got 4 pullets, and we got one. All the pullets are light brahams. The breed originated in China. Now we have a French hen and  a Chinese hen in our flock. We named our newest hen Chickety China the Chinese Chicken. But we call her China for short.

Isn't she the cutest little thing? Eveytime we go in there we cuddle her. Here she is resting on my oldest brother's shoulder. He didn't put her there. He was just sitting in that position near the nesting boxes on which China was standing and she flew on him.

Bible Study

Last week I went to youth group on Wednesday evening. We studied about how God reveals himself, if God is real, and world views. And last week's topic was "how do we know that the Bible is true?" So our youth pastor gave us a piece of paper to fill in the blanks. Note: All the verses come from New International Version.

Here is the outline:

The Biblical truth is:  There is both internal and external evidence that the Bible is the written Word of God.

Here is what the sheet said:

1. There is internal evidence the the Bible is the Word of God.
  • People in the Bible affirmed their confidence in the written Word.
" The grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of our God stands forever, Speak tenderly to Jerusalem, and proclaim to her that her hard service has been completed, that her sin has been paid for, that she has received from the LORD's hand double for all her sins." Isaiah 40:8,2

"And we have the word of the prophets made more certain, and you will do well to pay attention to it, as to a light shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts. Above all, you must understand that no prophecy of Scripture came about by the prophet's own interpretation. For prophecy never had its origin in the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit."
                                                                                                    2 Peter 1:19-21

  • Jesus treated Scripture as the unchangeable Word of God.
"Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. I tell you the truth, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished. Anyone who breaks one of the least of these commandments and teaches others to do the same will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever practices and teaches these commands will be called great in the kingdom of heaven."   Matthew 5:17-19

"It is easier for heaven and earth to disappear than for the least stroke of a pen to drop out of the Law."  Luke 16:17

2. There is external evidence that the Bible is the Word of God.

  • The Bible has continuity and unity of themes in spite of the number of authors and the vast seperation of time.
  • People have benefited from the living the principles expressed in the Bible.
"Every word of God is flawless; he is a shield to those who take refuge in him. Do not add to his words,  or he will rebuke you and prove you a liar." Proverbs 30:5-6

"As the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish, so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater, so is my word that goes out from my mouth:' It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.' "
                                                                           Issiah 55:10-11

  • The Bible influential throughout history, and has remained a bestseller for generations.
  • Nothing in the Bible has been refuted by science and archaeology.
  • Compared to other "sacred" writings, the Bible is superior.
All this I never knew. It was very interesting. I think that from now on my youth group is going to do this outline stuff. I am going to type all this on the computer and post on my blog. Also, my youth pastor handed out another piece of paper. It had each day listed and beside the days it has a passage written for us to read .

Here is the daily reading plan:

Day 1-Proverbs 30:5-6
Day 2-Isaiah 40:8
Day 3-Isaiah 55:10-11
Day 4-Matthew 5:17-18
Day 5-Matthew 5:19
Day 6-Luke 16:17
Day 7-2 Peter 1:19-21

Here is the memory verse for the week, The grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of our God stands forever." Isaiah 40:8

This is my new favorite verse. Because the grass and flowers die but God still stands forever. Even when he destroys the earth and rebuilds the earth.

Giveaway at Rachel's

Just a quick note Rachel is having a giveaway at her blog. The giveaway is a movie called "One Night With The King". The movie is based on a Bible character named Esther. I really want to see this movie because I've read the Book of Esther before. This is my favorite chapter in the Bible, next to Matthew.

So if you want to enter, go to Rachel's blog, follow the instructions, and comment on her blog and tell her that you signed up. Very Simple. You can only do four entries.

The deadline is on the 19th of the November.
