Simply Handmaiden

Is He really there?

Lately in youth group we've been talking about whether God is really there. A few weeks ago we had a debate about whether we believe that God is there and whether we really believe in the Bible or not. It was really wierd. Kids were talking and yelling and spilling questions everywhere.

Last night my youth minister asked us if we really know if God is there. Most of the teens raised their hands, saying they didn't really know if God was there. The youth minister asked why we didn't believe in God. A few people said that they're mad at Him.

So Corey (our youth director) asked, "Why are you mad at Him?" A few said because of school, fighting with siblings or parents, or because of unaswered prayers. My friend Melissa said her mom really didn't love her as much as she loved her drugs.

Corey said that he was once mad at God because he had been dealing with drugs and that he had to go into the hospital many times. Every night when he and his parents would go to bed, he would sneak downstairs, grab a knife and wrestle himself not to cut himself.

Whenever we pray to God we want to find answers. God answers all prayers but not always in a way we want Him to. Today Corey is a youth minister and helps counsel other kids in similar situations. Melissa mom died of an overdose, but she now has a much better life with her Christian grandparents.

It's really crazy that someone may be mad at God and not believe in Him. I hope this message touched someone's heart. Because we can't live out our lives and not believe in God and have faith that He will help us through any situation.

I heard a good proof that God exists on my favorite website, www.wayofthemaster.com. It went like this:
- You see a painting, and know that there was a painter. The painting is evidence that a painter existed.
- You see a building, and know that there was a builder. A building can't just happen, so the building is proof of the existence of the builder.
- When you see order (such as a line of street lights) you know that there must have been an "orderer". Someone had to be involved. Order dosen't just happen.
- When we see creation, we can know that there is a Creator. The complex, beautiful, orderly creation is evidence of a Creator.
You can check this out further at the website I mentioned above.

Aww, that is sad. We as humans don't realize that God isn't on our time. We're on His and because we want things NOW we loose faith and let Satan deceive us.

However, God does hear our prayers and will answer them in His time.
