Is He really there?

Lately in youth group we've been talking about whether God is really there. A few weeks ago we had a debate about whether we believe that God is there and whether we really believe in the Bible or not. It was really wierd. Kids were talking and yelling and spilling questions everywhere.
Last night my youth minister asked us if we really know if God is there. Most of the teens raised their hands, saying they didn't really know if God was there. The youth minister asked why we didn't believe in God. A few people said that they're mad at Him.
So Corey (our youth director) asked, "Why are you mad at Him?" A few said because of school, fighting with siblings or parents, or because of unaswered prayers. My friend Melissa said her mom really didn't love her as much as she loved her drugs.
Corey said that he was once mad at God because he had been dealing with drugs and that he had to go into the hospital many times. Every night when he and his parents would go to bed, he would sneak downstairs, grab a knife and wrestle himself not to cut himself.
Whenever we pray to God we want to find answers. God answers all prayers but not always in a way we want Him to. Today Corey is a youth minister and helps counsel other kids in similar situations. Melissa mom died of an overdose, but she now has a much better life with her Christian grandparents.
It's really crazy that someone may be mad at God and not believe in Him. I hope this message touched someone's heart. Because we can't live out our lives and not believe in God and have faith that He will help us through any situation.

My mom now has a new blog. She is now at Victoria Hill Farm. She said that she is not blogging here. But I think her new blog is better than her old one. In a good way. Today we took her shopping for her Mother's Day gift. She's been wanting a bird bath to go in the middle of her herb garden. Earlier this morning Mom and Dad went out yard sale shopping and Mom bought a lot of stuff. She got a nautral feather duster, Adam a bunch of new toys and roboraptor for Justin, a purple cd player and Christian cd's for me, a wire egg basket, new dishes, new clothes for Adam to wear, and her favorite item, a flower stand. She is already using her flower stand. It is sitting on the front porch.
Prayer Challenge: India

I am currently participating in the Prayer Challenge that Jocelyn is hosting. The Prayer Challenge actually started on the first day of May. Prayer Challenge is when you pray for two countries. You can pray for countries that have problems going on such as drought, war, or AIDs. I had a hard time deciding what country to pray for, including the U.S. But in the end, I decided to pray for India. A while back my former pastor went to India along with our music minister, youth minister and the youth minister’s wife. My mom said that they were going to India because the people who live in India can't really have church on the streets because it is against the law. I thought that was really sad. So I am praying that the people of India know Jesus as their personal Savior and that He will protect them from the evil that is there. For more information about the Prayer Challenge go to Jocelyn’s blog at A Pondering Heart.
ATTENTION: THERE ARE 14 OR 15 MORE DAYS LEFT OF THE PRAYER CHALLENGE!!! Young leaders

I really enjoy my Wednesday night youth group at church. We have about 40 youth and we are doing some new things to get everyone involved.
My little brother waves as our music minister, Brian, and another youth leader shoot some hoops.
We get involved doing stuff like being greeters to newcomers, doing games, helping with the Snack Shack (the snack shack sells drinks and snacks to help build a church in India), and taking pictures.
My friend Rae in the Snack Shack.
The group of people who do these things are on the Youth Council. I am actually on it and I like it. We help get everything ready for youth group. There are two chapters out of 1 Timothy that my youth pastor (he runs the whole youth council) wanted the Youth Council to read (the first two chapters). The passage talked about the importance and rules of leadership.
My youth pastor, Corey. Sorry this photo is a little blurry.
Here are some things I learned from the passage when my mom was going through it with me. 1. Leaders should not fight. Like if one leader wants to say announcements then the other leader gets in an argument because they want to do it. 1 Timothy 2:8 I want men everywhere to lift up holy hands in prayer, without anger or disputing. 2. Women should not lead men. Like a women or girl should not lead a Bible study with men in it. 11 Timothy 2:12 I do not permit a woman to teach or to have authority over a man; she must be silent. 3. Every leader should pray. Every leaders meeting should have a prayer before and after a meeting. In a leaders meeting I prefer praying before meetings. 1 Timothy 2:8 I want men everywhere to lift up holy hands in prayer, without anger or disputing. 4. Leaders should dress modestly. Which means no wearing anything that shows stuff that is inappropriate. I have seen girls in my youth group or on the youth council wear low cut or tight shirts and guys wear baggy pants that droop. 1 Timothy 2:9 I also want women to dress modestly, with decency and propriety, not with braided hair or gold or pearls or expensive clothes, 10but with good deeds, appropriate for women who profess to worship God. I thought that this lesson was really good since I am new to the youth council and didn't know much about it. If you want to check out what we do on Wednesdays you can check out the youth group’s My Space page. Just remember that even though it's a church page, it is My Space. This is the only My Space page my mom allows me to go to, and I can only go to it with supervision! Getting rid of clutter

It's been really busy around here lately. My youth group is having a yard sale and my family has been going around our house to get rid of some of our stuff to donate to the yard sale. Yesterday we went through Adam's (my little brother) room and got rid of some of his outgrown clothes and toys. Then we went through my room and got rid of some of my stuff, too. I had to get everything out of one of my bedside tables because we will have to get rid of it in order to fit my new bed in there. My mom also made me get rid of some of my purses. I had about 10 and she told me I could only keep five. I kept my green ones and a summer one. My youth pastor came to our house to pick up our yard sale stuff this morning. This Saturday we are having my brother's birthday party (Adam is turning 5 in a week). And before that, on Monday, I am getting my new bed. I will post a picture of it later. Well, gotta go! { Last Page } { Page 1 of 3 } { Next Page } |
