Grapes, grapes, grapes...

Sooo, grapes were on sale today when we ran by the store to grab mushrooms and onions for dinner. We grabbed about 20 pounds since they were less than half of what they usually are. Twenty pounds of grapes you say. (Some might say that I'm crazy) I've got them in the dehydrator on the sunporch as we speak! I had to run out and buy the rest of the trays for it even. I'm hoping to be able to put my homemade raisins in the pantry and for less than what I could by them for.
We also butchered the first of our Partridge Rocks today. We had some of the meat in a chicken cacciatore casserole I made up and also got 2 quarts of meat and 2 quarts of stock canned and they are cooling on the counter. The next 4 birds are cooling from the crockpots and we'll toss them in the canner in the morning. The meat had so much flavor. I'm so excited that we've been able to take this next step this year.
Well, that's what we've been up to today.
Have a blessed night,
Leigh-Ann

I sent a copy of this picture to our Grammie who's far away and not online. I thought it turned out great and felt like sharing.

Enjoy your afternoon!!

What's behind door number 1???

A corner optimizer unit. I was asked for pictures of what we've got behind one of the only doors we've got on the bottom of the new cupboards. So, here you go Jared!!

So, this is what is hiding behind the door in the corner!!

The Dehydrator's Humming...

The sunporch smells soooo good right now!! Jeff and Melanie went out to pick the first of our lemon basil from the herb garden to dry. We've got 3 trays going. It smells heavenly out there. I'm going to try to get as much dried and in the pantry for my own spices this year. What an exciting prospect!
I found a book called Mary Bell's Complete Dehydrator Cookbook that sounds awesome to go along with the new appliance. I think I might just have to get my hands on a copy.

Blessings,
Leigh-Ann

About Me

I'm a Christian woman who has had the blessing of being married to my best friend for a little more than 19 years. I'm also a homeschooling mom to our 3 great kids. We're trying to figure out how to stay country when country is disappearing at an alarming rate here in our little corner of the world.

Pray with St. Francis

Lord, make me an instrument of thy peace. Where there is hatred, let me sow love. Where there is injury, pardon. Where there is discord, vision. Where there is doubt, faith. Where there is despair, hope. Where there is darkness, light. Where there is sadness, joy.

O divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console; to be understood as to understand; to be loved, as to love; for it is in giving that we receive, it is in pardoning that we are pardoned, and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.
