The simple things are most precious

:: I found a crochet teacher

I'm so happy, happy, happy.  I found a woman who is more than willing to teach me how to crochet.  Now that I know I can crochet a scarf, and all the other things i wanted to make, that I thought I could only do if I knit, well I'm a happy camper.  I say that now, let's see how I'm feeling next week after a few lessons.

It's been a surprisingly cold, snowy weekend.  We've had so little of the white stuff that we thought we weren't going to get even a snowman this year.  We had some of the white stuff last week but not enough to call off school, and when the kids got home they built a snowman all of a foot high.  It was so small that Chad used his GI Joe hat on him.  It was really kinda cute, a soldier snowman.
Chad had another basketball game yesterday.  His poor little team is in last place but they are still having fun.  They get better each week too so that's good.  One of his team-mates came over for the afternoon and they got to shoot hoops and practise their "moves" so he was one tired puppy last nite.  Hit the hay hard.
My dh hung a cabinet in the kitchen for me yesterday.  Finally some place to put my glasses.  It looks so good, I'm so proud.  Little by little this place is coming along.  I'll be so happy to find room or give away the stuff that remains on the front porch.  Trying to move 2000 sq. ft of stuff into a 1000 sq. ft. box ain't easy.  I think that 100 sq. ft of it is what's on the porch.  I found this freecycle site to recycle stuff, for gives.  You post what you have for gives and others contact you if they want it.  They come and get it.  I know I could do a yard sale or sell it in the paper but I've not gone that route yet, and I've been saying I would for 5 years now.  I don't think I'm gonna do it.  Besides, I've been blessed so many times with giveaways from others that I think it's about time for me to sow some free stuff into someone elses life.  Reaping and sowing.  It's a good thing.  Freecycly is a pretty cool thing.  They have sites all of the US.  And the one I found is the one for the county we live in.  That's how they are listed on the nationwide site.  If anyone is interested is www.freecycle.org.  The groups develop from there thru yahoo groups.
I began a new bible study the other day.  It's called "The Excellent Wife" by Martha Peace.  Got the book and the workbook thru www.christianbook.com.  Good place for discounts.
Well...I've got taxes to do.  oh joy.  Hope everyone is having a great weekend.  We're in for more snow today so that will help make staying indoors more appealing.

Crochet Teacher!

That's great! Hope crochet comes easy with a good instructor! You've inspired me to try knitting again; the yarn I'm spinning right now will hopefully become a knitted scarf.

Lessons .... great!

Now don't get carried away!! Learn to crochet, first, then go to knitting ... if you like. I have some friends that like to crochet and hate to knit (and visa versa) ... if you like both, that's great! I'm glad you found a teacher!

Thanks for the encouragement

In all my excitement its hard to say whoa. But I do need to take it slow so I can learn to do this right. I'm not giving up on knitting but I'm gonna try crochet first to see if I can get the hang of it and actually produce an identifiable object. A little encouragement for myself. Plus, crochet is the only one I could find a living breathing teacher.

You both have been such inspiration for me.
