Long time, no post! I simply just have not had any time to be on line. My husband and I have been working steady on the long list of home improvements that I mentioned last Spring. Unfortunately, we have completed the bulk of them in the last three weeks. On top of that we have been busy preserving all the produce from our gardens. My house smells like a herb factory! I have them hanging everywhere. We recently purchased a commercial food hydrator, but I prefer to dry my herbs the old fashion way. Our gardens did very well, despite the odd weather that we had over the course of the summer. I used every canning jar I own! I do not keep track, but it does look like I have my own grocery store in my basement....Fortunately, my Mom had extra jars to share, so I will be canning again in a few days. We only have carrots, beets and potatos left. The children are off to a great year in school and have been wonderful during this hectic time. We still have some projects before winter that need to be tackled and of course more wood to be split and stacked. I am sure we are like most Americans today feeling the urgency to just put away/up more supplies. Whether it be food, fuel, or money. We purchased a new pellet stove last Spring and it is still not in. Wish it was, the mornings have been in the 30's for a couple of weeks. Our winter robes and wool socks are out and being used already. This morning it is 37, not too bad. It appears that it is going to be another clear and bright day. The fall colors are rapidly appearing everywhere. One positive note in regards to the rain, the red leaves are brilliant this year. I hope to take the children to a few favorite spots and take some fall photos. I can't remember when the colors were so vibrant. Well, I must start my routine and chores before school. Have a terrific day everyone! Jennifer
