Been busy at the fair......
We have been helping at our church booth and my youngest daughters karate booth this week. Needless to say I am so happy that the fair is over. Yahoo! Monday wasn't to bad we only had to take some of their entries to the 4-H exhibit hall. Then it was dollar day so I allowed the girls to ride 3 rides each.Wednesday we spent a little over 3 hours their. We had to work two different booths. We had to work my youngest karate booth and our church booth. Friday we spent from about 5 1/2 hours, this was kids day. So my girls spent time with some of their friends and my husband and I spent time alone at the fair. Kids day is the kids can ride all the rides they want for around $10 for a wrist band. My poor husband hadn't been to bed from the time he got off from work that morning so he was pretty tired. By the time we got home that afternoon, we had a sandwich for us all and got a glass of milk and took a shower and we all were in bed before 9pm. Hmmm something is wrong with this picture that rarely happens. We had to be up early the next day (Saturday) to be back at the fair. Our youngest was entering a karaoke contest so we had to be up their early to enter her into the contest and before the parade started so we could find a parking place. We packed lunches that day because everything is so expensive. More so then normal, a funnel cake one of my favorites $5 or more, most everything was from $4 or more for a single item, even drinks. Way to expensive for me. We have been packing our own water bottles, sandwiches and anything else we may need. So after the parade we had a few minutes before she had to be at the competition. So we had our lunch and waited till the started. I did buy one fair food item, curly potatoes $4 for a plate full, not to bad. She got ready to compete and she was the first one called up to stage. Their was only 2 kids that competed. She won! Yea, whoohoo! Proud mom time. Following the competition, we had to work at our church fair booth till we had to pick up the kids exhibits. We won 2 first places, 1 second, and 2 third. We won 5-6 items that we entered. Good deal! After we picked up their items my youngest who won the karaoke contest had 3 ride tickets to use up that they gave her as one of the prizes that all kids got. So after that we went home. Home Sweet Home! When we came home we made a homemade pizza and watched a movie and went to bed. We all were tired and ready to call it a night. We also had to be up early today for church and had one more week of bus duty. Today I had a pot roast cooking while we were at church and had mashed potatoes, corn and sliced tomatoes for lunch.
Have a blessed week!
Blessings,
Sherry

Working on canning.....
Today since my day is cut short since I have to work today. I am not going to get my canning done. We started on getting a canner filled. We are only going to do about half way full. We are making apple pear sauce. Once it cools I am going to put into a smaller canner and will put into the fridge and will can it later this week. Whew, that is about all now. I need to get ready for work and until later.
Blessings,
Sherry

Today......
Since today is a Equinox day plus the first day of Autumn, we did a lesson on it and thought that we would try to balance an egg. Did not work. DARN! My kids were disappointed. Today is the first day of our county's fair and my girls will be entering some of their veggies in the fair to be judged. They will be working a couple of different booths. One for karate and their youth group for our church. COOL!
Lunch is about done so I must get back to getting our lunch and lessons. Oh in case you are wondering what we are having, we are having turkey burgers, baked french fries, tomato slice (from our garden), refrigerator pickles (recipe on my blog) and apple from our tree our drink iced tea. Dessert brownies since we have a broken egg in our carton.
Have a blessed day,
Sherry

Today....
I didn't get all that I needed to yesterday. Last week I fell and hurt myself so I am still kindof sore. So after standing for awhile I start to feel it in my lower back and hips. When I was canning last week I caught my flip flop on a cord, and the floor was slippery and I slid and twisted and fell into the fridge. OUCH! So after standing for several hours, I got to hurting. I did lots of laundry, dishes and schooling the girls, I didn't get the tomatoes done. All I need to do is put them into jars and finish them. So I need to get off of here and get them done. I need to get started and get ready for work. So wish me luck.

This weekend......
was a productive weekend for canning. We canned all kinds of tomatoes over the weekend and have more to do. I made an Italian mixture and we used some of it in vegetable soup. My husband and oldest daughter canned them in the house while my youngest and I prepared the tomatoes and mixture out in our pole barn. We have this old double sink in our pole barn and use the propane burner and stand out in the pole barn. We also use a large piece of plywood with sawhorse as a table. I use my food processor and chop all the veggies in that out their. It works out so great and makes things go faster. While we were working outside we made our veggie soup outside also. Since we had lots of tomatoes already blanched we made up the soup and cooked it outside everything was right their and yummy. It was nice to do it out their. Saturday was a hot and muggy day but Friday was nice and cool. This week I will work on more tomatoes and apples, some pears and make relish. How is your canning going?
