Shark Dissection and Politics

My boys went with their dad the other day to dissect a dog shark, and they had fun with the other kids in their co-op.  While dad did this, I took my two little boys to the lake to catch butterflies and dragonflies.  We also found some mint leaves, and nibbled on them as we watched the planes take off.  It was a fun day.

I am a delegate for my political party, and am finding out alot about politics.  I am beginnng to think it resembles dissecing a shark.  I am trying to find out (before I vote tomorrow) who is slinging mud, and who is telling the truth.  I am dissecting a shark in a way!  LOL

So, this is what I am doing.  As soon as this is over, I intend to concentrate on getting my book published.

How is everyone else?

Hello! Its Robyn!I'm Still alive!Really I am!I've just been very busy and not able to come on alot.So anyways heres some of the things that have happend to me while I was gone.Well as you both know I've been riding for about...9 weeks now.Last sunday I was on Sparky  (the sweet baby) He was good as gold.Well he was a bit stubborn at first, but after a good kick he was on the right track.I was on the lunge line for about 5 to 10 minutes then I was allowed to join sue's group.I was at the end of the line.We trotted most of the time, but did some walking too. We did lead changes and yea!It was a very enjoyable lesson. Can't wait till next week! Its gonna be SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO awsome!I'm gonna be in a group lesson at 2:30.A group lesson last an hour instead of half an hour, and I won't have to be on the lunge line.My instructors say I'm moving along very quickly! Its soooo much fun!I bought a group of 16 lessons for 380 dollaors. Its a real deal because if you bought 16 lessons and paid for them by the month it would cost 460 dollars so I'm saving like 80 dollars. Now however  am almost out of money! so yea. This is very weird because I just chaged the font withour doing anything!Today I took Devin to the park and there were these annoying kids.Their grampa was practicly making me watch them as he was sitting on a bench, halfway across the park. The kids started saying to Devin "Your a Baby!" devin said "No I'm a big boy!" and the kid kept saying your a baby.Devin got mad and yelled "Shut up kid!" it was kinda funny! Then I said to devin lets go home and the kids started following us!The grampa just sat there on the bench. So I picked up Devin and started to run so theyd leave us alone. They ran after us!Finally I got home.It took there grampa like 5 minute to come and get them! They were running in the streets and they tried to go into our neighbor,mr keiths backyard.I like nice kids, but not them!I might get a babysitting job, with this adorible girl named kylie.Shes about 3.Her dads moving up from toronto, and her aunt has been taking her to the park everyday.Devin really likes her. They play togeather on the slides and stuff.Kylies aunt said they need a babysitter and said she'd talk to her brother, and tell him about me.I hope he says yes!Today we are going to a nearby town called Furgus.I won a colouring contest so i'm going to pick up my prize.I also might be getting/picking out my riding clothes today.I'll get some proper boots, jhopurs, gloves, and a helmet for only 200 dollars!Moms doing a soap deal with the lady.200 dollars in horse soap for the riding stuff.Leah's coming to.Were gonna got to pathfinders tonight.Anyways, its about time I get going!TTYL!~Robyn

Hey every one!Its ROBYN! No,I'm not dead, don't worry!I've been soooo busy with school and riding and pathfinders (In canada instead or girl scouts we have girl guides and in girl guides there are sparks, brownies, guides, pathfinders, rangers, etc. Each ones for different age groups and they are in the order I put them) and friends and...well yeah, you get the point! So I will tell you a bit about what happend while I was gone.Ok so lets see I'll star with my lessons.Since I last posted I have been off the lunge line and honey/Sparky spooked a few times.Thats about it with the lessons cause I had to miss the last two because of my pathfinder camps.I made ukranian easter eggs with Jenna. They were really hard! You have to put a small hole in the top of an egg and a bigger one in the bottom. Then you need to blow the egg yoke and stuff out of the egg, rinse it and make a pattern. We drew our patterns on our eggs and decide what colour would be what etc. Then if you want part of your egg to be white you dip a pin into hot wax and cover that part of the egg with it.Then you dip it in yellow and cover the parts you want to stay yellow in wax then you go to orange then, green, then turqoise, then blue then purple, and finally black and you cover all the parts you want to stay that colour along the way.You do the colour from lightest to darkest. Her is the ingrediants for the dye.

3/4 cup of warm water

1 tablespoon of vinager

1/4 teaspoon of food colouring.

You need to leave your egg in for 15 minutes for a dark shade or your colour. So It took us like 3 hours to do our eggs and when they were done, they wern't as nice as we thought they'd be....so yeah! Then I went to our pathfinder winter camp.It was a cold and rainy day!So we set up our tents...in the rain and yeah. After that we went into our tent. we just talked. Then we made grilled cheese for lunch. We went for a hike and met the leader of a group of cubs (boy scouts around 8 or 9) that were staying there. There leader challenged us to a game called cans, but we used bottles.SO what you have to do is they're are two teams. Each team gets a side or the feild/gym.One each side they're is a box of bottle/cans and a jail. You have to gaurd your bottle. If people from the oppisite team come to your side they will try to steal your bottle.Your need to try to catch them, and take them to the jail.If you just tell them to go to jail they will get away. You alo need to get there bottles.Same rules go for the oppistie them they need to get you to there jail before you can steal there bottles. Its really fun.The game end when the person gets all the bottles or when you get fed up of playing!I couldn't belive how funny these kids were! They came up to us and said "were gonna murdur you!" OR "wE ARE SO GONNA KILL YOU!" and other stuff.I'm like "these kids are 8!" in the end we won. They invited us to there camp fire so we went and sang songs and did skits. It was fun. After we had supper and played some games and had our own camp fire. Its was a really fun camp. Then I went to my auntie Sarah's house. We got our nails done and made more ukranian eggs. They were easy-er cause my aunt does them differently. You don't take the yolk out of the egg it dries up (doesn't smell!) and she had special tools to use and every thin so It was more enjoyable. They just this weekend my pathfinder group went to niagra falls. We stayed in a hotel! We went behind the falls and we saw a movie and we went to ripley's 4D movie adventure and we went to an awsome bire aviary (that was soooo sweet!) and we also went to a butterfly conservitory. Its was soooooo fun!Today I made a story for school and I had to write the viwes of a pencil, so here it is!

I AM A PENCIL

Hello. My name is penny.I'm not a human, I'm a staedtler 9705 0.mm pencil.I have a beautiful silver pen clip and a eraser cover. I have shiney green crome and a black hand grip.I'm a rather attractive pencil at that! ARRRGGGHHHH! Robyn's using ME to write with today. I personally hate writing because it hurts when people grip me and it wears down my beautiful led. I also hate when people  write all messy. It gives me a bad reputation! Also sometimes people throw me, snap me , use my eraser, and break my led!Its unbelivible! The life of a pencil sure is hard!

The End

written by penny pencil.

Anyways must be going now!~Robyn

Not feeling well..

I haven't updated for a while, I've been feeling under the weather. I feel like I have the flu, although I don't, and all I want to do is lie down, but women aren't known for allowing themselves to do that, are they? We keep putting one foot in front of the other, bad as we feel.

I filled in some bare spots in my peas today. They're doing great, I just didn't plant them thick enough. And since I got the Farmer's Almanac and read on the signs for planting, my seed potatoes are still sitting. It says the next good planting time for root crops is April 13. I don't know if I can hold off that long or not, seems awfully far away! But my neighbor plants by the signs, her mother and grandmother did, so I figure I'll give it a try. Today was a good day for above ground crops, is the reason I put more peas out.

I'm still fascinated by Carla Emery's book. I wonder how long it took her to write it??

I'll try to get around to some people tonight, if I don't give up and go on to bed!

Love my book!

I got my "Encyclopedia of Country Living" in Friday and I love it! It has so much information packed into it, it's amazing. It's a huge book too. I know this is going to be my favorite reference book and it's already earned a place on my desk!

The weather has been crazy lately. It's been snowing on and off for two days; a blizzard one minute and the sun shining the next. It'll lay and then melt off. And it's so cold again! My seed potatoes are still sitting in the hallway.

I have to go to town tomorrow to straighten out my checkings account. Dummy didn't use a calulator and messed up on her subtraction and a check would have bounced if the bank hadn't covered it. But now I owe the bank overdraft charges. I'm going to fall on their mercy since this is the first time it's happened (at their particular bank). I don't know when I'm going to learn to not count on my own math, I get in a hurry and make a mistake. To make matters even worse, I have a calulator in my purse!

I'm eagerly awaiting the arrival of my copy of "The Encyclopedia of Country Living". It should arrive tomorrow. I can't wait to see what all is in it!

Plans are well under way to make a family recipe/history/memories and storytelling book. I've been wanting to do something like this for a long time. I'm hoping to end up with a family treasure everyone will be proud to own and pass down to their children and grandchildren. Family members are already hunting their recipes and items to put in the book. I've got a lot of positive feedback about it.
It's going to take up a lot of my time, but I can't wait to see the end result!

Here's a pic of the progress of my peas. They're coming along nicely. They got snowed on yesterday, but as with the weird weather of Spring it's a nice day out today.

This is my climbing roses over my walkway...

My peonies are making an appearance...

My groundcover is coming in again. This is a wild groundcover that first came up in my BIL's yard and I dug some of it and transplanted it. It's very hardy and has pretty yellow flowers in the Spring....

My Knockout rose bush is budding. I planted this three years ago when it was a bare root and it has grown at amazing speed. I have trouble with my roses and Black Spot, but this one has been trouble free, along with the other one I planted two years ago. So if you have problems with Black Spot, plant a Knockout. I ordered mine as a bare root from Heirloom Roses...I think...I can't find my catalog at the moment, and when I do if it's not the right catalog I'll let you know...

One of my Azala's(?..I wish Homestead had a spell checker, I'm a terrible speller!)...

And this is Frank! He's not a plant, but he wanted his picture taken too!

As you can tell, I have a lot of cleaning of trash and derbis to do off my flowers. More later..

I'm doing some much needed housecleaning today and thought I'd visit some other sites on my breaks. I think my furniture is under the dust somewhere! After the living room I'm going to tackle this office. Hubby says he doesn't know how I can concentrate in here, it's so cluttered. I tell him clutter is a sign of a creative mind. I don't think he believes me!

Off to visit...Sarah

I didn't have any plans to post anymore tonight, but I saw this on Kayinpa's site and thought it looked like fun.

"Doing Carla's suggestion!

Using the letters in the word 'MONDAY,' list things that you do (or would like to do) in your spare time."

M - Music. I love music. Rock, old Rock, Classical, Bluegrass, the old Hymns. I very much dislike Country music, except for the older ones by Loretta Lynn, etc. I do like Reba McIntyre (?) and Dolly Pardon.

O - Organizing. I love my lists and having a place for everything. The trouble is, it always looks better on paper than it does in my house!

N - New things. I love to learn to do new things and I don't ever want to stop learning or trying. I think that's what keeps people young and interested in life.

D - Dolls. I collect old Barbies and baby dolls. They are my prized possessions. I have managed to find some that I had as a child on Ebay and replace them.

A - Appreciate. I try never to take my life and what I have for granted. I never go to sleep at night before I thank God for it all.

Y - Yoga. I started Yoga a few months ago and got side tracked. Hopefully, I can start it again soon. The few weeks I did it I could tell the difference in how much more limber I was and relaxed.

That was fun!

Made Bread

I made some more bread yesterday. It wasn't the healthy kind, it was white bread. Going to go with that for a while until I get better at it. This one was better than the last. I used less flour and it was lighter textured. Hubby took a turkey sandwich made from it with him tonight. I'm going to town tomorrow, but I'm not planning on buying bread!
