Ok, I admit it. I have too much stuff. I am a pack rat! My mothers says I was born a pack rat. I beg to differ, but that's another post! I know the first step in recovery is admitting you have a problem, so there you have it.
As I sit here typing this post, I look around the computer room, also known as the hurling room (and for GOOD reason), and it almost makes me shutter. Having spent the better part of the summer outside in the garden, there's lots here in the house that has been neglected. Does one start with the worst spot first and then go from there?
I don't know why I decided on a major project this time of year. We have a Holiday open house in Nov. at the shop and also the Christmas in the Country Show coming the first weekend in Dec. I should have my nose to the grind stone (or felting needle) and in mass-production mode, but looking around I really have no inspiration. All I see is work to be done.
I do think I could utilize my space much better and make a cozy, creative space to make things here in the hurling room. Sometimes it helps me just to write it down. Inspiration and motivation for all the world to see, or maybe someone out there might keep me on task! Will I do a thing? That remains to be seen, but here are my dreams, goals and wished for the hurling room:
Empty the room!
New, fresh paint in a color that inspires creativity.
New carpet. This was original to the house in '94.
A craft table, not too large and not too small.
Cubbies of some sort for all my crafting goodies! I love cubbies!
Book shelves for my never-ending library!
Someone to come do this for me!
And after it's all done, I would love to have a new computer. Mine is a dinosaur and about to bite the big one. I use it a lot for selling and keeping in touch with friends, not to mention blogging.
So there you have it. If you read this blog on a regular basis, feel free to email me and ask how the redo is going. Keep me on task!
And if any of you have storage ideas or secrets to share on getting organized and staying that way, please write in. |
