and so little time!
First off, I walked for 45 minutes tonight picking up cans. In no time at all, or so it seemed, my cell alarm went off. I walked for 25 minutes out and 20 minutes back. I barely covered any territory at all and had 3/4 of a large, black garbage bag full of smashed cans! Unreal! There's a road off of our road that's out in the middle of nowhere. My son came down it the other day and gave me the hot tip that it's loaded with cans. He was not joking. Those big cans too! Ha! All the better! I just wish they wouldn't throw them in the streams and swamps. If they are going to leave them, they could at least leave them accessable! Sheesh!
Yesterday we sheared sheep here. A very nice young man named Erick came at about 9:00 and we promptly got started. He has Shetlands too and it shows. He was so kind to the sheep, evening humming or singing while he sheared. He was very mindful of letting them relax before he got going. It was a treat to have him. The only draw back was that I had a lot to do! We finally finished at 6:30 last evening. My friend, Kathryn and her 2 kids came for about 2 hours in the morning. She helped out and so did my daughter. She was a HUGE help and I was so thankful to have her! She even wrangled sheep! It wore her polish right off her nails! HORRORS!
Here's the llama, Sophia, looking over her flock. Such a lovely and protective llama doing her llama job!

The front sheep has a bit of blood on her nose, but its just from being bumped into by another sheep in the barn.
Here's my daughter wrangling sheep!

The other sheep are looking at her like, "what are your doing?" Notice the black sheep in the left corner. He got done shearing him and he promptly jumped right back over the fence, just like a goat! I've never seen that before! I guess he just wanted back in with the flock, so that's where he stayed!
And here's the shearer shearing!

And last, but not least is the Tom Turkey! He was all over the barn yard during shearing, trying to show off and impress everything and everyone! Here he's romancing the bucket. I don't think the bucket could be impressed, but the turkey didn't know or care!

Then my father inlaw came out and the turkey decided he didn't really like him! He's never reacted to anyone like that before, but he took after him and actually bit his hand. My FIL said that as a child he teased the turkeys and got in so much trouble for it. I guess it was pay back time for the fowl!
I can't wait to tell you about my day today! I brought my junking to a new level! Stay tuned! |
