Are you familiar with the book Flat Stanley? It's a book about a boy who is flattened by a bulletin board and lives his life flat. Apparently he discovers he can go many places and does. While researching what this story is about, I learned Stanley's last name is Lambchop! How fitting that Flat Stanley would come to visit here! He spent New Year's day ringing in 2008 by helping me with the chores.
Life With LaVonne on New Years Day
The first thing we did was feed the chickens and the turkeys to keep them occupied and out of our way while we did the chores. Those turkeys are WAY bigger than I am!

Then we opened the barn door to let the little goats out and fed the big girl goats, one by one in the milking stand called a stanchion.

And we milked them while they ate.

Next we fed the pony. He's getting old and needs to put on some weight, so we fed him some special Senior Horse food. We had to make sure the goats are out of the barn before we fed the pony because they will eat all of his special food.

Then it was time to fork over some hay to the goats, sheep and llama. You can't see the llama, but she's there beside the sheep too! That was some wild ride on the pitchfork!

Then on the way back to the house we collected the eggs from the chicken coop. The green one in the box is from an Araucana chicken. They lays different colored eggs. It was a little smelly in the coop with all of the chicken droppings and such, but it is winter and that sort of stuff tends to "pile up", if you know what I mean. I should've asked for a scoop shovel ride too, but I think that would have been too stinky!

I went into the house to get warm by the fire while LaVonne watered all of the animals and tended to the pony's sore foot. I didn't dare get too close to that fire! Love the hat?
Happy New Year!
