It has been a while since I last blogged. This time of year is always so busy. I am getting ready for the annual Christmas in the Country Show at the little school house up the road, so that's where all my extra time goes. I've been needle felting, but nothing new or unusual this year except my Tasha-inspired dove ornaments.
I also just got a wool order back from the mill. I had A BUNCH of quilts batts made and some roving. There's a chocolate brown roving that's so pretty! It's my favorite! I sell the quilt batts for $20 ea. They are 35" x 50".
Yesterday we spent a little time out at the chicken coop cutting down some willow branches that have grown out horizontally. The problem is that some of my chickens roost up there right over the sleeping sheep. Chicken poop in the wool is not becoming! We also installed a solar light out there for the chickens. Chickens need 12 hours of light to produce an egg. I have to leave a light plugged in with an extension cord from the power pole, so I decided to give this a try. It's actually the type you use to illuminate a statue or something like that in your yard, so I am anxious to see how it will work for my purpose.
I haven't had any eggs in 3 days and began to wonder what was going on. I've had a light on, they are getting good food, hmmmm. Well, yesterday I found the reason why. While in the coop I discovered the biggest turkey raiding the nesting boxes! He was eating them as fast as they would lay! Off with his head! He's going in the freezer!
That's the update for now. You won't see me for at least a week, I am sure! |
