• Thursday, February 15, 2007 - The Rest of the Story!

So, a brief overview.  My friend locked her keys in her pickup at about 4:00 pm.  The shearer called at 4:15 and said he'd be here in 30 minutes.  After 25 minutes I called him at home and told him to forget it.

Tired, crabby, frozen and hungry I head into the house about 6:30, leaving the friend to shear as many of the lambs as she'd like.  She did the rest and finished up at 10:00.  By then she needed to unlock her pickup.  She needed a bread knife to cut the duct tape around the inside of the side window (club cab pickup).  It had been taped shut from a previous problem.  She got the window open and came back to the house for coat hangers.  She wired and duct taped two together to make it long enough and headed back out.  Mind you, it is 15 degrees, dark and snowing.  I am inside in my nice, warm flannel pjs thinking I need to go out and at least shine the flash light from the other side so she can see.  I get on some pants, a warm coat, gloves and my boots and head out.  Much to my surprise, she had already hooked the keys on the hanger, but they were still in the ignition!  Lucky for her she has the type of ignition that doesn't need a button to push or some such fancy thing to get the keys out.  Now she needed a broom stick.  I was standing on the opposite site shining the light for her and she was manuvering the coat hangers and the broom stick.  She managed to wiggle that broom stick just enough for the keys and hanger to go flying.  I figured they were lost on the floor forever, but she raised up the hangers and there dangling on the end were the keys!  I couldn't believe it.  She very gingerly fished the hanger back out of the window and had the keys in her possession!  I still cant' believe she was able to get them!  At 11:15 pm, she was on her way home!

Here are the girls snug inside the barn waiting for the shearer.

Here's Maa Maa Goat wondering why she must be locked in the barn too!

What a hoot! (now that its over!). The girls look so tranquil (before the shearing). The timing was perfect so that you had your Valentines to cheer you up. And what a great friend you have! Your life is never boring. ;-) Sharon
