"The gloom of the world is but a shadow; behind it, yet within our reach, is joy. Take joy."
In this week of Thanksgiving, I am reminded of this, one of Tasha Tudor's favorite quotes. It was written in 1513 by Fra Giovanni Giocondo in a Christmas Eve letter.
You can read about the author and the entire quote in, of all places, at gratefulness.org!

Each day this week I shall endeavor to list 5 things I am grateful for. I encourage you to do the same.
1. Faith, for without the Grace of God, I wouldn't exist.
2. Family, even though we can sometimes drive each other up the wall, I do have a wonderful family and I am so thankful for each of them.
3. Friends, without whom I'd have been committed by now, I am sure!
4. My home, for shelter over my head, a warm and cozy fire and a dry place to lay my head each night.
5. Freedom and this country called the United States of America. I am so thankful for those who forged ahead and helped to make this a free country. I am eternally grateful for those who have fought and given their lives to keep it free. |
