Journal Calendar

Here's an example of a calendar page in my journal..

This is the first one I made. On the others I have quotes on the bottom.

Lisa's clipart. I have these saved on my computer, so that when I want to make another copy I just bring it up. And if I have a name on one of them and want to make it for my DIL, I just quickly change the name and save it as a new document.

My Home Journal

10:19 PM, Saturday, March 11, 2006 .. Posted in Organization .. 2 comments .. Link

I just have to tell you about the "home journal" I'm making. I discovered "Microsoft Publisher" (it had been on my computer for a year and a half, since my oldest had put it there!) and have been spending the last few nights playing around with it. I love it!

I already had a journal I started when I joined Flylady, but being the "SHE" that I am (her description of a perfectionist), I was never satisfied with it. It didn't look good enough to suit me. And if all my lists aren't perfect, instead of scribbled on a sheet of paper, they do me no good. Yes, I know...but that's just the way I am, and I've accepted it.

Now let me tell you about it so far. On the cover, instead of "Flylady's Control Journal", I have a graphic of a teapot set and the title is "Sarah's Home Companion". It's a large three ring binder from Walmart, with colorful, transparent, plastic dividers with tabs. I have different sections: Master To Do, To Do, Shopping lists, Grocery lists, Car maintance and repair, Monthly calendars, Books I want to read, Chores chart, Printed Christmas tags to cut out, and Printed book plates to cut out.

Tonight I made a Garden section, with each thing planted on a separate sheet in "landscape" rotation. Each sheet has a lined graph with a two month calendar. On the side I put what I do, such as: Planted, Fertilized, Miracle Growed, Dusted, Hoed, and Yield. Then when I do it, I make a check mark in the corresponding box under the date. I can see at a glance when I did what. And I made the whole thing in "Publisher" and it's neat looking. Neatness counts with me. I get aggrevated if a page in one of my books is creased or bent. Yes, I do have problems!

Here's a pic of it, if I can get it to show up:

I'll try to post a new pic of each section every day so you can see what I'm talking about. I'm sure all the "list" people out there would be just as excited as I am!

I'm in the process of designing other sections: Phone/Address, Honey-Do, Projects, Vacation checklist, Pet care, Christmas lists, Recipes I want to try, Cleaning tips, Weekly menu, Important info, Birthdays/anniversaries, Medical info, and anything else I can think of. I already have a separate planner for Finances that I've been using a long time and have a stack of refills that I need to use up before I incorporate that into my journal.

What got me on redoing the one I had, was I thought of making one of these for my DIL who has just been married to my son for a few months. It'll be her birthday next week and she's always looked at my old one and wanted to know about it. I've printed out a huge stack for her so far and am going to buy a binder and customize it for her. I hope she likes it as much as I do, but I know she may not be a "list" person like I am.

I'll try to upload some more pages to show you.

Sarah

BTW: the graphics are from Lisa's Country Clipart. I love her graphics, she's so talented!
