Rose Cottage

Wednesday, August 23, 2006 - ~Our New Home~

We just recently moved from Anchorage, Alaska to Graham Washington on July 1st, 2006.  I'm still getting settled and still working on a system for our new home.  I have yet to unpack some books for the bookshelf but they are not a big priority for me right now.

Yesterday I got to spend some time with my daughter, Katie, she is 2 yrs old.  We went to the playground and then she rode her 3 wheeler around outside for several hours!  It was so nice yesterday with a cool breeze and temps at 65-70.  It did remind me of Alaskan summers and I dearly miss those!

I also got my freezer and pantry inventories done.  When we first got here and unloaded the Uhaul (after driving 7 FULL days from Alaska).......we were all worn out and just threw whatever in the cart at the grocery store.  So now that we have all the kitchen tools, etc unpacked, I'm finding I have all this food unused and that needs to be used.  My freezer is halfway stocked with meats but could use more vegetables that's for sure!

Today I plan on making my meals and grocery list for September.  I may be trying Azure Standard to purchase most of this.  They sell whole grains and lots of healthy type foods and we are in their delivery area.  But I still have to read on their policies today before I purchase.  Here is their website www.azurestandard.com and I've heard good things about them.

Also today, I'm catching up on my cleaning.  Today is the bathroom's weekly cleaning.  When I get time I will post my cleaning schedules and what I do Daily, Weekly and Monthly/Seasonally in each room of the house.  The system works great!

I made my laundry detergent and it should last until Sept 1st or so.  So I need to make another batch or two to last for the month of Sept.  I plan on doing that either this weekend or early next week.

Ok I'm off to finish the house........also need to get in my prayer/Bible reading time today because I took a nap this morning!

Beverly,

WELCOME to the neighborhood! :) I live out in Mineral, we go to church in Graham, at New Life Fellowship at 299th and Meridian--wonderful church family, pastor etc :)
You can order direct or shop at the storefront in Eatonville...just down Meridian a ways....for bulk from Azure, I love having the little storefront there in town....so handy!

I am over at OurLittleHomestead, stop by and visit and shoot me an email if you'd like more info on the area--tons of great resources and family friendly outlets for children/families.....I'd love to share...I love this area....we've lived here all our lives, moved to Eastern Wa for a year and just moved back a couple weeks ago! So happy to be home, and find a hsb2'er so close by ! Also, Mel at GoingGreen also lives nearby too :)

Welcome, Beverly! I'm a little southwest of you in Yelm. (I'll be on Ft. Lewis soon though.) I've been in WA since 1988 and I love it here. Having been to Anchorage once during the summer, I can understand why you miss it. There's plenty to love here though. Lisa and I can come up with tons of great resources for you...just holler!
Again, welcome!
