Happenings!

Well, some of you might have thought I have fallen off the face of the earth. Nope! Just extremely busy. I think I have mentioned in the past that I'm trying to finish my thesis and I have until December 2nd to get it done. However, one major obstacle is money! If I can't pay my past bill I can't enroll to defend my thesis (all I need is to enroll for 2 hours). BUT I decided that I wasn't going to get discouraged by that. I was going to do my part, pray and I know God will provide what funds I need. If that doesn't happen then at least I know I have done my part and can feel good about it knowing that is not what God had intended for me. So needless to say I have been preoccupied with that instead of creating.

On another subject, I have been thinking about communities. As you may or may not know I live in suburbia. What was once a small community is now a community that is "THE COMMUNITY TO LIVE IN" area. Snobville if you like. Which makes me sad since I grew up here as did my parents and grandparents and wanted my kids to as well, but that is another blog. Anyway, I long for a small community where people depend on one another. So my thought was to start a website were people can list services that they can barter or exchange. Meaning....I will cook 5 dinners for you if you come tune my piano or I'll fix your car if you come fix my shower, etc etc. I would start telling people at church in hopes that it would catch on. Surely there are people out there that are willing to help or exchange out services. I think it would be a good stewardship. I don't know........

I'm hoping to be able to get some quilting done and some Christmas presents started but I think I'm going to be pretty busy for a little while until I get this stupid thesis done (sorry just soooo tired of it)! I shouldn't be that way but my heart isn't in it. I'm not even sure I will ever use it now. My goals, dreams and aspirations have changed so much that I don't know if it was ever worth it to begin with. But at the time it seemed like the right thing to do.

Hope everyone has a terrific day and week! I have been reading everyone's blog. You all are such inspiration to me and others I'm sure!

Christy

Thank you for making the time to leave a comment on my blog about to move or not to move (or something like that).*smile* Take heart in knowing that though you may think the country life brings a sence of kinship and community really it's not where you live but the connections you have. We live a little bit out and have a little bit of land but there still doesn't seem to be time to "be" neighbors. The sence of community takes a lot of effort if you are not around family. The sence of community comes from a deep trust in those around you to know that if and when you NEED help or NEED a friend, they will be there, no questions asked. That is not a matter of city, suberb, or country...it's a matter of who you know and trust and are they "in your neighborhood?" We have a neighbor like that on one side, if and when something comes up I know I can go knock on their door and they will help in any way they can. The man of the house is quite friendly and is just a down home good ol' boy his wife is more of a quite and family type (we all know the mix of couples like this*smile*). Though we are not close per say, knowing that they would help if it were needed is VERY nice to know. We kind of keep an eye out for one another (the two of us at any rate) and on the land that surrounds our homes. That has nothing to do with country though, rather the people. It's not the land that raises that, it's the parents. I hope and pray we are raising the two that have been trusted in our care to be an asset to society in the way the Lord has in mind. That we are parenting in a way that pleases the Lord. I know in doing so they will be in the good ol' boy family and will put God first in their lives and thus will be the neighbors we all wish we could find. *smile*

That was a lot more than I thought I had to say about that. *smile* Know that even in the snoby ends of town there are those who really want to be, like us, where everybody knows their name. *smile* Have a wonderful day and remember to pray always.
Sincerely,-me-(Mommy of two little blessings)

Thanks for your comment. I'm lucky to have my all my family here (parents, grandparents, etc) and we have a great community with our church that I depend on. I just long for land and the community that we had before we moved back to my hometown. I know I have people I can depend on here within my community but things have changed within what I once knew.
