Great weekend

My weekend was so awesome.  This was good because I needed to recuperate from a rough week and I was behind on laundry and wanted to get some nutritious food ready for my family.

Friday:  I did my grocery shopping on the way home from work Friday night.  After the groceries were put away I fixed tacos for supper with cold canned peaches for dessert.  Nothing fancy, just fresh, home cooked, quick food.

Saturday:  DH left for work at 7:00.  By 8:30 I was showered and dressed, I had a pot of chili cooking, a batch of homeade Cinnamon-Struesel Cider muffins cooling, a load of towels in the dryer, 2nd load of towels in the washer.  At 9 I called my cousin and confirmed she was up to our visit.  She said yes so I left to spend a good chunk of the day with her.  DS was settled in with ESPN - football!  DD was off doing horseback related activities.  I got home at 3 and DH was home, I did some more laundry.  I left at 4 to pick up DD and then returned home to have a relaxing evening with my family.  We found out we are going to be great-uncle and great-aunt - yippee!  Sweet little blessing in the family.  Immediately pulled out baby item patterns and decided what quilt pattern to use for his quilt.

Sunday:  DH not feeling well.  Fixed breakfast for the family, dressed and went to church.  After church I went to Joann's fabric store for - yep, you guessed it, baby fabric.  I bought 4 different flannels - 2 yards each and 3 yards of a knit fabric, also picked up the fabrics for the baby's quilt.  While I was there I used my 40% off coupon to buy fleece for my dad's Christmas present and they had flannel backed satin on sale so I bought enough to make a pajama set for my mom for Christmas.  Went home, worked on decluttering recipes/cookbook area and went to drug store to get a prescription for DH.  When I got home I started supper.  I made Shrimp Alredo - from scratch - yummy and we had salad to go with it.  I made enough white sauce to use half in stew beef, then mixed up a recipe of Pumpkin Chip cookie dough.  I baked half and will do the other half tonight.  I mixed up a baggie of onion soup mix, made a loaf of bread and put beef stew in crock pot.  Started crock pot and got ready for bed.  In between all of this I washed and dried all the fabrics (except quilt fabric) I bought so they are ready to sew!

Wow you have had a busy weekend but it sounds delightful. You said that you washed all of your fabrics except your quilting fabrics. Do you not pre-wash quilting fabrics? I don't (except for reds) and I love it when other quilters give me the astonished look... I always use cottton batting and I love the way that is all shrinks together on the first washing. It gives it that beautiful antiquey look. I also wanted to say thank you so much for your prayers for us and Andrew and his family. We truly have been blessed by this opportunity and continue to pray for guidance and strength.
