Quiet Life Homestead

Friday Happenings, MEP, Robinson, Etc.

We had a nice thunderstorm this afternoon that cooled things off enough for me to get online for a while.  The kids are outside playing in puddles, its so good for them to be out for a while.  I feel we've been living in a cave lately with the heat, no going outside except to take the dog potty.  I don't think I've ever looked forward to Autumn as I do right now!

Our schooling is going great.  I had tried last week to incorporate some Charlotte Mason philosophy and scheduling and although the kids enjoyed it, I felt like a chicken with my head cut off!  Also, all the reading aloud made it where I couldn't get my chores done.  We have gone back to the Robinson method, using some of their books and some personal ones we have.  I can't find my Saxon math books and fear I got rid of them in my latest curriculum toss (a few months ago).  I'm trying not to panic and have been praying about getting some more.  We have a used curriculum place near here when I purchase things like that so I know I can get them, its just having the finances in place to do so.  In the meantime, we're using MEP but at times are struggling with a few concepts.  I'm not going to worry about the metric system and we're changing the money.  Also, some of the instructions are a little confusing, but we're getting by.

Hopefully there will be more tomorrow....

Yes, yes, yes, Autumn, please come now! Oh, well, it will get here eventually. We just have to hang on for awhile. I'm so ready for a change. I'm thinking of getting out my Autumn decorations this weekend!
When I homeschooled, I implemented as much Charlotte Mason as possible. If anything, make sure you're primarily reading "living" books as possible.
Blessings,

We use Robinson, we just love it. And some Old fashioned Education. We are also using alot of notebooking ideas this year.

Good luck with the new school year. We started back on July 9th. The kids begged to get started back, so that is what we did. When the kids start begging to go back, it really makes you feel good.

Blessings,
Lynn
