Quiet Life Homestead

Our Saturday

Now that I've gotten some rest (and coffee), I thought I'd tell you about our Saturday.  In order to get you up to date, I actually have to go back to Friday night.  Knowing that we were going to be leaving early Saturday morning (alarm at 5), I decide that I absolutely MUST finish my current Joel Rosenberg novel (The Ezekiel Option), so don't fall asleep until sometime after midnight.

As you may imagine, 5 comes awfully early, but we get up (at 5:23) and are out of the house by 6.  We couldn't go our normal back way because of some construction so found a new back way to go (still saving us the hour or so we normally would save on the "back way" - this is all opposed to going through Tulsa to get on the turnpike).  We always drive Rt. 66 as its more peaceful and saves TONS of gas.  Arrival at Mom's is about 9.

Charlie walked the boys - mostly Dallas - through fixing Mom's phone line so now she has telephone service in the house instead of going out the back door.  Afterwards, we loaded up in the car and van (our five plus Mom and Staci's three) and went out to see KC at Tandy.  Visited a few minutes and then were on our way to the ballpark.

We drove past the Murrah Building Memorial (Mom's not quite ready to get out and walk there yet - too emotional for her still) and then went to Bass Pro Shops.  Walked around for a time then walked over to Sonic to eat (we sure eat a lot of Sonic don't we?).

Walked across the street to the ballpark where we waited for the Mark Harmon Celebrity Baseball Game to begin.  It was hot (yep, we got sunburnt) but the game was lots of fun.  I didn't recognize any person/names besides Mark Harmon, though Charlie did recognize a few sports stars.  I forgot, Staci and Nicole's boyfriend (Cole is Staci's oldest) arrived before the game.

Ate Hideaway pizzas which cost roughly $6 per person - not bad for a ballpark - waiting for the Red Hawks game to start.  The San Diego Chicken was there and he was cracking us up!  Game went pretty well but we left in the 8th inning.

Took Mom home, grabbed the rest of Bethy's stuff, and headed home.  I drove to Bristow and then Charlie took over driving.  We got home around 2:15am.  Exhausted, we went to bed.

7am, Larken decides she's up, Mom has to get up.  I just tried to get a nap a while ago, but with 95 outside and 86 inside, its just too hot!

Anyway, we had a great time!  Charlie took pictures so I'll see if he'll help me download them afterwhile.  I just realized that none are of us, they are mostly all of Mark Harmon and some of his teammates.  They are great pictures though.
