Heat, Quilt Progress, Weighty Issues

Okay, so its Thursday afternoon and the temperature outside is 96 and its 87 inside.  I feel like I'm back in Panama minus the rain.  Its pretty humid here hopefully will rain soon.

I know what my problem is, I let the boys talk me into laying down to take a nap.  I can't sleep because its warm and just trying to makes it even warmer.  I wonder why that is?  The boys are crashed and seem to be alright with the heat.  Golly, we've got 5 fans going on in there at once!

Okay, enough whining about the heat!  I've been working on my quilt.  Yup, the same one I've been working on the past few months, trying to get it finished.  I got the binding sewn onto the back and am in the process of bringing it on over to the front and pinning it on.  It looks really good and it feels even better to be working on it.

Charlie said this morning that I really need to get going with making the dresses.  So out comes the measuring tape so I can see what size I need to make.  What a shock!  I didn't realize I'd let myself go that far.  I mean, I know I want to lose about 50 lbs to get back to my pre-kids weight, but wasn't expecting to see what I saw.  I think the greatest shock was seeing what size they said I should be.  I had a 24 and 1/2 inch waist when I got married and now its.......much bigger.  So I did what any normal, level headed person would do - I cried!  I didn't mean to, but as I was telling my Mom, I just started crying.  Dallas, the sweetheart that he is, told me that I'm fine right where I am.  He also said, "Mom, you're always saying we shouldn't be like the world.  Well, you're being like it right now.  You don't need to worrry about how much you weigh or what size you'd wear on those silly patterns!  And if it makes you feel any better, I'm bigger than I was when I was born!"  He's going to be such a good husband!  Did I mention that he wants us to go out for free floats later today??

Well...after 10 babies, I can pretty much guarantee that I am no where near the size I once was. After having our eldest, I started back to work in a size 3...SIZE THREE...uniform skirt (worked at the DoubleTree Hotel in downtown Tulsa as a hostess) and that was a bit loose.
LOL....goodness knows it wouldn't be loose now...ok, truth be told, I might get ONE leg in there...maybe halfway up...but the Jaws of Life couldn't get both legs into that size again!

****** You are so precious! I read this and cracked up! I am being pretty silly, huh?! I'd rather have my children than my old body. I don't think I was ever a size 3. Bethany's a string bean and can wear my old size 5s (a little baggy). Maybe I should just give them to her and move on!

You know I don't know many women that are their pre kid size and really what does that matter in the light of eternity? Not much at all. Thanks for sharing and if you want my two cents.. (it probably isn't worth much more! LOL) Enjoy those floats and try to stay cool!!!
