Monday Evening Update

Hello all, I hope ya'll had a wonderful holiday weekend.  Our visit with Charlie's brother and family went really well.  We ended up visiting with them Saturday, Sunday, and today.  We got invited to go to the movies yesterday and accepted but were planning on seeing Pirates 3, but it was twice the amount of time as the movie they went to see.  Well, we decided to be nice and watch the same movie as them, Shrek 3 - BIG MISTAKE!  I had never seen the other ones and was told that they were all really cute.  Well, the movie was anything but cute...strike that, the sad look on the cat was cute, but that was it.  So then we had to go pick up Charlie's brother who was at a local casino.  His wife called and told him we were on our way and to be finishing up.  Well, he decided to continue playing for awhile and so we had to park and Charlie had to go inside to find him.  While waiting, we were accosted by two gaming authority police because come to find out, children can't even be in the parking lot.  Don't get me wrong, I totally understand and agree with the policy.  My problem wasn't with the police, although they kept coming by and falling just short of harassing us, my problem was with my brother-in-law and his "need" to be there, thus us having to be there.  He and his wife had argued about it and that's why we had to pick him up instead of her.  I finally had to call my in-laws and ask her to call him and let him know what was going on outside.  They came out about 4 minutes later, and Charlie STILL had to pull up the car to the front to get him!

Bethany will be going to Mom's house this next weekend to help after her surgery.  She'll be staying until the 9th, when we go back down to attend the Mark Harmon celebrity baseball game - my sister got all of us tickets.  Cody will be going this next weekend to Wichita with my mother-in-law to spend a few days at Charlie's brother's family's house.  The normal babysitter won't be available for a few days and so they are going to watch the twins (4yr old girls).  He's pretty excited about going and is trying to talk Dallas into staying here.  I'd like him to stay here because then we could work on some plans for his education, but my brother and sister-in-law are trying to talk him into coming as well.  Charlie would also like him to go so it would be just us (well, and the dog, the cat, and turtles).  We'll see.

We're getting ready to call it a day even though its only 6:30pm.  The alarm will go off at 4am and we hope to be on the road shortly thereafter.  I get first driving shift and am the one that has the hardest time falling asleep, so I think I'll go read and maybe will get tired enough.  Worse comes to worse, I'll do some reading and researching in a few hours when its dark and everyone else is asleep.  Pray for a safe trip for us, if it comes to mind.  I'll check in when we get back and let everyone know how it went!

And about Shrek 3. Have you noticed that most movies when they do a remake of them that they certainly fall short of the original? I really don't care for remakes, or Part II, or Part III......
It always seems to go overboard and be a disaster!
