Quiet Life Homestead

Friday

I need to get back on schedule today.  It seems lately that I've been letting lots of things slide, including housework and purging unwanted items from the home.  Also, I need to be working on the love seat so we have another place to sit besides the sofa.

Today ends the first week of the boys' volunteer work.  After we pick them up, I'm going to take them to Sonic to get a blast.  I thought about going to Braums for some ice cream but that's much further and we need to not use very much gas.  They still haven't upped Charlie's pay (even though his responsibilities have quadrupled) and that is hard to bear.  He's still making the same amount he made when we first moved to Michigan, what, three years ago?  I just have to keep reminding myself that God knows what's going on and has a purpose in this.  Whenever it really starts bugging me, I remember Jacob and what he went through.  If God made things right with him, He'll make things right with us as well!

I've been reading College Without Compromise and am getting inspired.  I'm only on the second or third chapter and its taking a while to get through because I'm taking copious notes, plus I keep running to the Internet and checking on things.

Last night I finished reading Joel Rosenberg's The Last Jihad.  I have the other four books in the series from the library and will start reading the next one today.  What I like about this series is that, at least thus far, there is no cussing and no sex.  It seems you can't find an action adventure without those two these days.  Also really cool is that the author is a believer and writes his stories with prophecy in mind.  Its nice to read a book like this without getting all bogged down on this type of weapon, or that type of ship, plane, etc.  I've tried to read Clancy's novels before and they were way too technical for me.  My husband loves his books, but then again, he was in the military.

The dog's freaking out about something....gotta run!

I know for us, tough times financially have been some of the best "faith" times... Looking back, of course! LOL!
We learned to rely completely on the Lord and He never let us go hungry.

I'll see if our library has any books by Joel Rosenberg. I haven't heard of him before!
Thanks!

I have been off the site for awhile visiting some friends and family but I have really missed reading everyone's site. What are you doing with your couch?
I can sympathize with the job pay thing. I hope it works out for you soon. We are doing some revamping on our budget here. I am reading a new book that some friends gave me. They paid off 21,000 in debt in 4 months by following the books budget plan. We are going to be implamenting some of the stratagies too.
