Tuesday Happenings and Rememberances

Charlie got in fine last night.  We waited at the wrong arrival lounge and finally ended up finding him at baggage claim.  Unfortunately, Dallas and I argued about it quite a bit.  I had sent him to find out if we were waiting at the right place or not.  He simply walked to a desk and since there was no one there, came back.  He didn't look at any signs or anything.  So then I went and while I was away, he asked a passing stewardess and she told him we needed to be on the other side of the airport.  Its a good thing Tulsa has a small airport!  This is teaching us to pay more attention.  I normally do pay close attention, I guess I was just tired.

Once we picked him up, Charlie took us to IHOP for a late-night meal.  Of course we all had breakfast items and it was such a treat to be out late and eating late.  Surrounding us were families (one really big family had an entire side of the restaurant) whose children had just graduated high school.  I sure remember that time for me and thought upon it while we were there.  My class was the first in our high school to graduate at someplace other than the school gym.  It was at the Myriad, which is now called the Cox Convention Center, in Oklahoma City - only about 20 minutes from where I grew up in Mustang.  Gosh, I can still remember how it all felt and looked.....all the promise....the hopes and dreams.....  God has taken me many places, none of which I ever would have said I would do or be if you had asked me at my graduation.  Well, I did have my eye on Charlie.  I had attended college at USAO the summer between my junior and senior year of high school and my sister attended there so in the fall all my spare time was spent in Chickasha with her.  So of course I had seen him, he was the Student Body President and SO cute!  I'm very thankful God answered that prayer!

I had planned on skipping school for a few weeks until things settled back down.  Since we got in late last night and it took me forever to fall asleep last night squeezed between the dog and Charlie, I didn't wake up until 10 this morning!  Shocking, I know!  The boys were in the "playroom" doing their schoolwork.  They  said their goal is to do one lesson/ read one chapter in each book.  Afterwards, if they still have time, they will do extra.  WOW!  I sure can't wait for the college books and cd to come in that I ordered.  Hopefully the motivation will carry through.

Charlie's such a string bean that he gets cold easily, so while he was away I made a wool throw for him.  Now I have no crochet project going on and my hands are itching to do some.  I suppose I'll have to pull some yarn out of my basket and make something else.  Right now the most pleasing thing is simply single crochet stitch and making throws.  I know there are more advanced stitches and things you can make, but they simply do not appeal to me at this time.  My sister (Sooner Chick) is truly the crochet queen, she can make anything and she did show me some stitches when she visited last.  I may use the knowledge sometime in the future, but not now.

Charlie's brother and his family are coming down from Wichita this weekend so I need to get the house in order.  I don't know if they will come here or not, although I know they will be staying with Charlie's parents, but better safe than sorry.

Thank you for reading this blog.  If you got all the way through this entry you deserve an award.  Sometimes I think I'm the most long-winded, flibberdegibbit around!  I don't have any awards, but my thank you.  Now, get to work! :)

Hi ~
I hit the random blog button and up you popped!
We are originally from Chickasha, my hubby graduated from USAO, we lived in Mustang for 5 years (on Ensey Terrace), lived in Tulsa for a total of 5-6 years, we now live in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area.
What a small world! :)
We LOVED to visit the Will Rogers homestead when we lived there. There was a turkey there that use to chase my oldest son! :)
Blessings ~ Susan

***** Wow it IS a small world! Thanks for reading and commenting. I've been trying to think of where the street is that you mentioned. We lived both in the Meadows Addition and Heights Addition in Mustang, and then off Czech Hall Road. Would love to live in Ft. Worth sometime....... Vicki
