Quiet Life Homestead

Wasted Day?

I had so much planned to do today.  Bethany and I are still going to start with the love seat once I get off here, but, golly, its after 5 in the afternoon and I didn't get anything else done.  What did I do?  Read below:

I treated the children to Spiderman 3.  It was an okay film - I didn't really notice anything very offensive.  No bad language perked my ears and I didn't notice any scantilly clad women - that's a relief!  Growing up, Spiderman was my hero.  I'm terrified of spiders and somehow thought he'd keep me safe or something.  Who can remember how they thought at age 5?!  I'd grown out of reading comics but would see various things from time to time in stores.  Once the boys got old enough, they watched a few cartoons like Spiderman and Batman - we put a halt to it after a little while.  Anyway, there was this villian that scared the socks off me - Venom.  Well guess who happens to be one of the villians in this movie...do you have any idea?  Venom!  YIKES!!!!  I'm not sure exactly what it is that creeps me out so much about him, but the boys were real understanding of my shivering.....yeah, right!  :)

We finally got a chance to visit the produce stand here in Bixby.  The prices are insane!  I did purchase a very few items that were kinda reasonably priced, but not much.  We went afterwards to the local Country Mart because they are having their Mega Meat Madness Sale (my, what a name).  I was able to pick up a lot of meat - mostly steaks, roasts, and hamburger meat for around $70.  This meat, along with the ham and turkey I got yesterday will work for at least 26 dinners.  Which for five people averages to about 54 cents per person in meat.  Not too shabby.  I also got some frozen veggies to go along with the fresh corn and green beans from the produce stand.  I still have some pasta of various types, burritos, frozen pizzas, spaghetti sauce, rice, potatoes, and a few breakfast items.  I'll have to total up all that I spent yesterday and today and see how well I did.  Also, I'm looking forward to seeing how far we can stretch this food.  I know the ham and turkeys will last for more than one meal each.  I'm getting pretty excited about the prospects!  I'll let you know how it all works out.
