Quiet Life Homestead

HOT! (Well, kind of)

It is 90 degrees outside right now!  Okay, before you start thinking bad of me, 90 isn't all that hot.  Here in Oklahoma we get in the 100s and stay there anytime from June through August or September.  I have the ceiling fan in the living room on plus another fan in there to try to keep the dog happy.  She seems to be doing just fine, except for the fact that the boys are playing outside and she can't go.

The kids got their schoolwork done, with the exception of Bethany's Spelling Power which I will do when I get off here.  Their assignment sheets are a little different from normal, as I'm trying something a little different.  I gave them their assignments for the whole week and am letting them decide what they do what day.  The catch is they have to have it all completed by Saturday afternoon.  Also, I did have to specify that they could not put off schoolwork today and begin tomorow. :)

The boys have an interview tomorrow afternoon for the volunteer library positions.  There are four people being interviewed tomorrow, including the boys.  Bixby has a small library, but I'd like it if they could find something for each of the kids to do, kinda spread it out.  We'll see how it goes and I'll let you know when we hear something.  Speaking of hearing something, the other library we use called and Cody won a prize in their library week giveaway.  He's so excited and keeps asking to go to the library to pick it up.  Thing is, they said "Charlie" and I need to make sure which Charlie they are meaning.  Cody is actually Charlie IV, so it can get a wee bit confusing.

Bethany's ready to do her spelling now....Gotta run!

I have kind of thought of doing something on theorder of that for the kids' schoolwork for next year too.
But I am afraid that things wouldn't get done! LOL!
Guess it'll be a touch and go situation till we find a groove to be in!
Let us know about the volunteer positions, ok?
Amelia is starting her volunteering at the hospital next month. She is going to be a candystriper. Hope that goes well!

I think it is great your kids are volunteering. My son is a III so I know the confusion it creates especially when making appointments at doctors ect. I have learned to give the birthdate along with the name.
