Friday Happenings

First of all: If you live in Oklahoma, please contact Governor Henry about HB 714 and encourage him to sign it into law.  This bill will end abortions being performed in our public hospitals, currently being paid for by our tax dollars.  I must admit I heard this in passing, but plan on going to KFAQ's website to check into it a little more.  I am against abortion, so I know that I will contact Governor Henry.  I just want to know for sure what the bill does exactly.

Charlie bought the new Left Behind book last night, for him to take on his trip.  He said I could read it first since I normally go through the books really quickly.  I started reading it last night and had to make myself stop.  It was forever before I could fall asleep, I can't wait for the Millennial Reign of Christ!  I haven't read the three Left Behind books that are suposed to happen before the Rapture.  I started reading the first one, but it seemed so dark (with Nicolai's mom and all that), I had to stop reading it.  I don't know if I'll try going back and reading them or not.  Also, I know that there are a lot of people who say to not read the Left Behind books that they aren't entirely accurate.  I don't know if people will be saved during the Great Tribulation, honestly, I won't be here if the Rapture happens first (there's controversy on that one as well).  I do know that these books have been used by God to bring people into His Kingdom.  That's good enough for me.

Our forecast today is for temps around 50 with thunderstorms.  Charlie's sleeping right now as he decided to come into work a little later than normal.  He's so funny, all he talks about is that when he's not in meetings or working on his new flyer, he'll be sleeping.  Did I mention that the meeting's in Las Vegas?  His roomie will be preparing a sermon that he's to give the Sunday they return.  God is so great!  Charlie's got several single friends who are managers and will be at the meetings as well.  They've each tried to talk him into running around with them while they're over there.  I pray he has the fortitude to do what he's planning on doing and to stay away from all the temptations that abound there.

We had to eat out last night and it was my fault.  I feel so bad about the money we wasted.  What happened is that the oven was smelling really bad (probably from the burnt....I mean, "Blackened" chicken) and I'm planning on making bread today (hopefully the weather doesn't mess it up).  Our oven is self-cleaning and so I decided around noon to set it on self-clean so the bread didn't smell like whatever that smell was.  The oven didn't finish cleaning until around 6:30 last night.  I can't find the paperwork for the oven and can't remember how long it took to clean last time.  Maybe it was just really, REALLY dirty.  I still need to wipe all the white stuff off, then I can clean the shelves and put them back in.

Eek!  They just came on the radio with the weather report.  I had heard wrong before I guess.  We're getting s-n-o-w.  Oh my!  What if I want the rain instead?  Where can I sign up for that?  According to Dallas we're going to get more snow than rain.  At least with temps around 50 the snow will melt.

I've been trying to drink more water lately.  I remember Paige talking about it before on her blog and it has encouraged me (finally) to try drinking more water.  I haven't noticed her talking about it lately, so I need to get over there and check to see how she's doing with it.  I'm also trying to drink more milk and to limit my iced tea to one glass a day (normally at dinner).  The restaurant last night had Pepsi products (I'm allergic to Pepsi), so I drank Dr. Pepper.  I know, where's my resolve to drink water or tea at restaurants?

For school today, the kids are going to do their regular lessons in math, english, and science and then I think we'll curl up with blankets on the sofas and everyone read.  It seems to be that kind of day.  I'm tempted to have the kids just read and not worry about the math, english, and science.  Bethany's been doing extra work the past few days.  She really enjoys the Rod and Staff curriculum.  Dallas has been complaining about the amount of problems in his math book.  I keep telling him to do everything as unto the Lord Jesus, that doesn't help.  I still make him do the problems, it isn't like the work is difficult for him, personally, I think he's being lazy.

The cat spilled a container of water on the table where the kids do their leatherwork, and, of course, the table is messy.  I need to go help clean it up.

Dreary day here too

Oh, it is just yucky outside. Last I heard we are getting rain today and maybe snow tomorrow - yuck! Where is my sunshine, my beautiful bright warm sunshine? It is such a good day to curl up and read a book or watch a good movie. I am planning to fix white chili to go right along with the cool weather.
I also like the Left Behind books and even if they are not exactly in line with scripture, they made me ponder many things and definitely encourage you to be right with God before the rapture. And by the way, I bet Charlie will do the right thing in Vegas.
Have a warm day inside,
Rashel

No, no! Don't you feel guilty about eating out. It was a special treat for you so you such just enjoy it! No guilty feelings! : )
I like the Left Behind series too. I don't listen to critics as the writers tried to make sense of hard things and make the best intelligent guess they could about unknown things. They are well written and get people thinking about the consequences of living without God. Other than that they are a good read in a world with so much junk out there! I have the whole series and would love to read them again. Right now I have This Present Darkness by Frank Peretti to read. He is an awesome Christian writer and definitely gets you thinking as well.
Sending a little sunshine your way hon!
All for His glory,
~Rhen
