Quiet Life Homestead

Wednesday Happenings

On yesterday's entry (one of them anyway) I forgot to say that we are currently homeschooling 6 days a week.  I try to be flexible and not freak out if we have to take a day or two off to do other things, but having the kids know they are expected to do their work each day really helps.

I need to run to the local library today and return some books.  I don't think we'll be checking any more out today as we need to focus on what we're doing here.  Cody and Beth (the wacky pack) are in my bed still asleep.  They both came in before Charlie left this morning and crawled into bed with me.  Dallas came in at 8 and woke me up which was good because I was having the weirdest dream.  He and I have been collecting the library books and I'll probably run them to the library once I finish my entry.

Homeschooling will run the same course as always.  I still haven't decided on a read-aloud yet.  Afterward, Beth and I will be looking through material and picking out some to make the chemises and pantaloons out of.  Also, I need to make bread today and the beans I keep putting off.  For dinner last night we had "blackened" asian chicken with carrots and potatoes.  I call it "blackened" because I started doing other things and forgot the chicken was in the oven. :)  It acutally turn out tasting really good, most of the burn stuff was the skin anyway.  I normally take the skin off but this was frozen when I put it in the oven.  The asian sauce was wonderful (store bought from the kitchen store that went out of business).  I'm slowly still working my way through Nourishing Traditions.  I just finished the intro part about fats.  I had switched us to using butter about a year ago and started using bacon grease to cook fried potatoes in a few months ago, so it felt really good to see that I'm doing something at least kinda right!  I may go to the natural food store one day and see what they have, but the prices are so high that it may just depress me.

I think that's all we've got going on.  It will be interesting to see how it changes throughout the day! :)

Thanks for reading, we'll talk later.      Vicki
