Quiet Life Homestead

Tuesday on the "Homestead"

Charlie's not 100% sure its poison ivy, he thinks it may be poison sumac.  I'm thinking of collecting some in a ziplock and taking it to the local nursery and see if they can tell me.  Whatever it is, it needs to be GONE!

I'm letting the kids sleep in as they stayed up late watching the basketball game last night.  Oops, I just heard one of them.  We're going to get back into the spring of things with our homeschooling today.  Afterwards the kids really need to work on their bedrooms and bathrooms.  Were talking danger zones!

The high today is forecasted to be 77 (that's 10 degrees lower than yesterday) with it getting cooler around midday.  Tonight it is going to get down around the 40s with a high of 60 something tomorrow.  We don't have the air conditioner hooked up yet and have just been having the windows open and fans on.  I'm so welcoming the cooler weather, I know the dog is as well.

I picked up, at the library, a copy of Worms Eat My Garbage yesterday and found out that nightcrawlers aren't the kind of worms that you can keep in a portable compost.  According to the book, they need several feet of space and temps no higher than 50.  I was going to have the boys let them go last night but forgot.  Once the rain comes this afternoon, I may have them take them out.  It really depends on if it gets darker or not.  I told them to go ahead and read the book as we can still do it with different worms.

I didn't get a chance to do any quilting yesterday so that will be what I do while the kids are doing their studies.  I'll be tying Dallas' quilt, as there will be enough room on the kitchen table to do that along with their school books.  Afterwards, I'm going to get back into getting rid of stuff.  Its weird, but when I'm just sitting or walking through a room, I seem to see lots of items that are candidates for getting rid of.  Then when I'm actually going through a room to get rid of stuff, I can't seem to decide where to begin!  I'll just have to be prayerful but ruthless.  Why is it we get emotionally attached to things?  Is that not the silliest?

Time to get on task.

Vicki

We have many sumac around here, though I'm not sure if they are poisonous or not. I know they can be. Such a life, heh? All the pretties can turn and bite you.

I, too, have that same affliction when trying to clean the clutter. I have learned that I have to simply grab and make split-second decisions as to its fate...if I 'ponder' it too long, I start trying to rationalize reasons to keep it, or store it away for later...anything but simply getting rid of it!

I wish for you a ruthless spirit as you wander room to room!!
