Quiet Life Homestead

Just letting you know, this entry starts out all nice and easy but I'm ranting about something at the end.  If you don't want to read my rants, then you may want to skip this entry today. :)

Its just us girls right now.  The boys went to work with Charlie this morning and Bethany and I will be going a little later on.  I've just spent the past 45 minutes trying to get caught up on my blog reading.  Wow!  There's lots going on with us today.

Charlie spoke with his brother last night and found out he sold one of his leather pieces!  Unfortunately, this particular one was his Christmas present and mistakenly sold.  Charlie's going to make him another one (its a pictoral carving with a phesant).  Other works he has done are now on their way to New Mexico to (hopefully) go into a gallery.  He's already sold one of those as well and we're awaiting payment for it.

We're suposed to get some "weather" tonight or tomorrow.  On "weather" read storms!  :)  We love the rain and storms, you'd think it was Christmas or something!  Last year we had season tickets for our local minor league baseball team and on opening day had a big storm.  We're out there in the pouring down rain, wind whipping like crazy, just standing under a little awning.  Come to find out later, a tornado went right by us and we never saw it.  I felt so cheated!

On the radio this morning they were talking about the illegal immigration problem.  Did you know that more people have been killed by illegals than have died in the Iraq war?  Why are our news media not talking about this?  Were are all these people in congress who decry the war, why are they not doing anything about the silent invasion?  Just here in Tulsa, we've had many shootings (one with an AK47 from a vehicle and targeting businesses as they drive down the road), and tragic car accidents that have been caused by them.  Two of the accidents that come to mind at this moment cost a man his life and another has put a two-year old in critical condition.  Both of these were caused by illegal immigrants who had no drivers licenses, insurance, didn't even own the vehicles they were driving.  They both ran through red lights at high rates of speed.  One of them was under the influence as well.  In Tulsa, we have a "sanctuary policy" in which the police officers aren't allowed to ask for documentation.  So in regular traffic accidents, these people are allowed to drive off and have no penalties, while the victims are left holding the bag.  The first person mentioned above had his charges changed to misdemenors, the second one announced that he's illegal so that they'll deport him.  What's wrong here?  Is it just me?  Oklahoma gives FREE college tuition to children of illegal immigrants but we have to pay for our children's education.  There is a new program where Oklahoma will pay for certain childrens college education, but certain criteria must be met, one of which is the child must be in public school from 6th grade on up until graduation.  Now I'm not saying that the government needs to give us college education (as a homeschooler, I guess we're disqualified anyway), on the contrary, we need smaller government, not bigger.

Okay, I'm going to get off now that I'm all riled up.  I'm just so frustrated that those who should have rights, get those rights denied and those who shouldn't, get those rights.  When your first act in coming to our country is to BREAK OUR LAW by ILLEGALLY entering the country........  One last thing, the argument that they are only doing the jobs we wont is baloney.  Roofers, carpenters, bricklayers, gardeners, sheetrock installers - these people are all losing jobs to illegal aliens who will work for $3 an hour.  One contractor when confronted the other day said that his business is more important.  He stated that the victims of the accidents and such (including the 2yo) are "necessary casualties of war!"  It just makes me sick!

Tulsa has always been a bit light-handed with things like that. Sickening, isnt' it?
Sadly, they aren't the only place touting tolerance and acceptance in this manner. A lot of cities are doing the same thing. Sad.
