Friday - Healthier Choices, Homeschooling, Etc.I picked up my copy of Nourishing Traditions from Barnes & Noble last night. I can't wait to begin reading it and making some changes here. I don't want to do anything drastic, but want to go slowly and steadily. We're trying to drink only coffee, tea, milk, water, or lemonade, which is a big step for us. Although I'm not sure any more trips to Starbucks will work, as Cody and I like getting the White Chocolate Mocca with extra whipped cream and two sugars in the raw. It's kinda hard to justify that if we're trying to be healthier. Maybe if we only do it once in a while...... We're also trying to get used to iced tea without sugar. Charlie does just fine with it, but I've noticed Cody and I keep reaching for the sugar. Dallas doesn't like tea and that's why I added the lemonade. We'll see how it all goes. I also took time and went through my Rod & Staff catalog last night. If we got what we need for this year for all three kids it would be approx $200. I'm going to continue with the list books, Bethany already has the math, we have this year's english, and have all their science books from 5th grade to 10th grade. So then, planner that I am, I figured how much it would cost to get what we would need for the remainder of the children's schooling, it ended up being around $300 for a total of $500. I was comparing that with Bob Jones and Alpha Omega (the two catalogs I had handy), the savings was amazing! I didn't realize how expensive the others were. I'm not saying that they aren't good curriculum choices, we've used both in the past. I just think for us to simplify things, this may be the way to go. I still have lots of praying and searching to do. I want also to check out the sites Deanna was referencing the other day. Bethany is at Charlie's work today so its just me and the boys. We're going to load the car up with donation items and then maybe catch a dollar movie. I'm going to check to see if there's anything appropriate on there. The farmer's market isn't open here yet, otherwise I'd go pick up some veggies for the week. One of them though is selling the, I'm not sure what you call them, little seedlings (not the seeds, but the plants that are already starting to grow). I'm going to probably wait a day or two on that until I see what the weather's going to be doing. I got the kitchen cleaned yesterday, the Christmas decorations and tree (yes, we're lazy) in Dallas' closet, some laundry done, and that's about it. We ate out for dinner last night then went to WalMart, so I didn't get my evening cleaning done. The boys want to watch some of the basketball tournament, so I'll probably let them while I do some quick pick up. Vicki { Post a Comment } { Last Page } { Page 194 of 288 } { Next Page } |
