Thursday - Baseball, Abraham to Jesus Exhibit & Other Stuff

Spring training baseball is HERE!  Yes!   I didn't realize how much I missed it until my husband found an old game on XM the other day.  We don't like either team that was playing but listened anyway.  Yesterday I listened to the Rockies game (their farm team, Tulsa Drillers, is hereobviously and some of the players we watched when we had season tickets last year moved up right before last season ended.  So now we've added the Rockies to our teams list.  We also like Detroit since we used to live there, and of course, my team has and always will be the Yankees.  My husband bought another XM so he can have one at his store to listen to the games.  Baseball is a real encentive here at our home.  The kids try to get all their work done so we can listen to the games.  We even made up some score sheets so they can fill them in while listening along.  It's a really good listening exercise since you need to know what player does what in order to fill it in properly.

Yesterday morning my friend from OKC called and let me know she was on her way to Tulsa for an exibit and wanted to know if I wanted to go.  The exhibit was Abraham to Jesus and it was really good.  They had parts of the Dead Sea Scrolls, a Torah, several items of pottery, coins, etc.  Also much Scripture was quoted although they fell short of giving the Gospel message of Christ.  There was a wonderful little shopping area afterwards that had things such as the history of the Bible, Bibles you could purchase (unfortunately all NIV), pictures, CDs, books, even Menorahs.  Well, actually there were lots of Jewish items that were very beautiful and neat, but unfortunately I don't know the name of them.  Oh yes, they also had a book to use for Seder.  I would have liked to purchase that one, but wasn't able to right now.  The exhibit is now going to Dallas, Texas.  If you get the chance to go I think you would be blessed.

I saw the thing at Front Porch about Heartschooling this morning and I think that's exactly what we'll do.  We do play lots of games, such as Hand & Foot Canasta, instead of certain subjects from time to time.  But the idea of a whole day of relaxing and enjoying each other sounds WONDERFUL!

Have fun today!

Vicki
