Quiet Life Homestead

It's a Beautiful Day!

Right now it is 70 degrees!  This is the first warm day in a long time. And yet, we live in Oklahoma......that means we're getting ready to have more very cold weather!  I once read somewhere that you know you live in Oklahoma when you use the air conditioner and heater in the same day!  We don't have an air conditioner, but we'll be using the heat tonight.  Most of our windows are open, letting the fresh air inside.  It is so wonderful!  I can't wait until spring....I'm looking forward to the mild temperatures and thunderstorms.

I've also got our XM on the 40s channel, something about it helps me get into the housekeeping, handicraft, etc. mood.  Maybe because I identify the music with those values.  It sure is better than anything they play nowadays.  My husband always has country music playing in his stores and I hate it.  He plays it because most of the customers relate to it being where we live and that he sells leather.  But the values are just as bad, if not worse than what's on the pop channels.

I've pulled out my old Reb and Beverly Bradley tapes and am going to listen to them while Bethany and I quilt.  These tapes I purchased at a homeschool convention years ago and it is amazing how much they speak towards what I'm learning right now.  Things like dressing like a woman, honoring your husband (thank's again Stephanie for that wonderful post!), and being a keeper at home.

I also found some old tapes from Grandview Gospel Ministries that will benefit as well.  I'm going to have my husband help me download some of Charity's messages and study them as well.  I'm so excited about the things I see God doing in our lives and in mine in particular!

Well, I'm off to study and quilt...

Quilts

I would love to see your quilts. You should post them.
My daughters quilt is going to be fun because it has fun, bright colors in it.
Switching gears.....you know what's a good book on dressing and stuff? It's called Christian Modesty. It's really pretty good. I just saw that you were talking about dressing and whatnot so I thought I would mention it. I always told my husband that we could probably make a living out of having a store that sold only modest clothing. It would be great to have a store like that to go to and know that everything in it is going to cover you properly. Ok this post is long so I'll stop.

Oh what a good idea!

Thank you for giving me the idea of something interesting to listen to. I do not have any music cds that I like and I am not always a fan of the stuff on the christian radio stations, it tends to be over played. I looked through our satelite radio stations and found we have a 30's and 40's channel. I like it :) Thanks for the idea.
