Tuesday HappeningsWe got off to a slow start on our homeschool this morning. The kids are all working on their math. Charlie is helping the boys, mostly Dallas, with any questions they have while I help Bethany. We've gotten behind in our Bible reading plan and I've decided that we'll just continue on where we are now and make it a habit so that next year, we won't miss any parts. I have to admit that I'm not looking forward to reading Song of Solomon with the kids. I know that "All Scripture is useful....." but I'm a little uncomfortable with going over that with them. The kids are 14, 13, & 11. I'd be interested in hearing from those of you with kids around those ages to see how you've addressed this issue. I got the afghan finished last night! It isn't very big, I had wanted (hoped) it would be twin size at least but it is more of an interesting lap size (does that make sense?). I had used some yarn that my mom gave me. I still have more yarn in other colors that I may just add to it. I'm doing a single crochet stitch - I know that it is much more condensed than any of the other stitches, but I wanted something warm. I have an afghan that she made me when I was a child and it is done in some bigger stitch (I'm not sure which one) and so it has lots of holes and never was quite warm enough for me. I'm a baby, I know! I still need to finish quilting the quilt for our bed so I'll probably put the afghan up for right now and finish it after the quilt. I don't have a whole lot more to do with the quilt, I just need to finish quilting the cornerstones and the border and then bind it all together. I'm never quite happy with my binding. I don't know if I'm doing it wrong or what, but I've made 8 quilts and have only liked the binding on one of them. I'm going to go back and study some of my books and see if I can come up with a better way to do it. I'll bet I'm skipping a step. The kids and I made ice cream in baggies yesterday, using a recipe my sister gave me. The ice cream didn't come out quite right, maybe it should be shaken a bit longer than five minutes as it was a little runny. A little update on yesterday....my 14 year old read the article about Christian rock music, walked into his room, came out with a stack of cd's and said, "I don't think we need these anymore." I found out that God's been revealing a lot of stuff to him as well about changing some things in our lives to live more biblically. He started telling me all the things that he feels led to do and it was such a blessing. I was worried that he might be difficult, but it seems as though he's leading the charge! We decided to prayerfully forge ahead and take one thing at a time. Have a great day! { Post a Comment } { Last Page } { Page 251 of 288 } { Next Page } |
