An Experiment

My family is going to try an experiment this week.  We're going to put a towel or blanket over every television (I'm ashamed to say we have three) in the house.  We're going to pretend that we're living like the "old days" when people didn't have a television and see how we do.  Obviously, this won't apply to the computer (for checking e-mail and writing the blog), or to some things like HEAT. 

I've been feeling really convicted lately about living more biblically, and I feel (for us anyway) that some things like the tv, videos, video games, etc., make it more difficult.  Well, those things don't make it more difficult, it is our untempered use of those things.  New Year's Day God told me to put up the video game systems for a whole year and we've done that.  I don't feel the same leading with the tv's yet, so that's why we're trying our experiment.  We have 3-4 shows (depending on if LOST is back on or not) a week that we watch plus if football is on, so it isn't as if we watch a lot.  When the kids were younger we had times when we didn't even have a television, I miss that.  Until we moved the stuff that my mom had been storing for us, we only had one.  She had two televisions that she gave us a few months ago.

We hope to get word on one of the things we requested prayer about today.  The other is still hovering around but since I spoke my fears to my husband and sister, I don't feel as burdened by it anymore.  That could change at any minute so I keep my Bible nearby at all times so I can delve into the Word to fight those attacks.
