Quiet Life Homestead

Driving in the Country & Other Stuff

Charlie was home today so when we were finished with our schooling, we decided to take a drive.  We've lived in the Tulsa area before and used to go driving every few weekends or so, but hadn't done it since we got back.  It was such a blessing to see all the farms (we went south) and we even saw a coyote!

I hope to get the afghan done today.  It took all day yesterday to do the laundry (incl. putting it away).  We've really got to get rid of some clothes!  I had asked those of you who wear dresses all the time, or most of the time, how many you usually keep, but didn't get any answers on that one.  I suppose if I aim at 6-12 I'll probably be alright.  I'm thinking 6 for spring & summer and 6 for fall & winter.  I can always add a sweater or something like that if it gets too cold.

I was reading on someone else's site that they were going through their Murry McMurry Hatchery catalog looking for what kinds of birds to get.  My husband and I looked up their site and are so excited about all the possibilities!  Also, my sister had me go to minicattle.com those cows sure are cute!

I'd better get off so I can get that afghan finished and maybe run to the store to look at patterns!  Have a great day!

I'm sorry -- did I miss the question about dresses? I tend to fly in and out reading alot and not really taking time to comment :o(
We are dresses only here...and I mean dresses, not jumpers. I tired a while ago trying to keep up with a shirt for each jumper, so we went for straight dresses.
Our plan here is for at least 3 day/homestead dresses for choring and so on, and 3 or 4 for town or church. As these become worn-looking, they will move to daywear and new church dresses made.
Something a friend mentioned was to make 4in. hems for the girls for growth room, and long sleeves...then come spring/summer, those sleeves can be hemmed up or even cut for 3/4 sleeves. I think we will definitely go with that plan!
