Quiet Life Homestead

I've decided my dog is a toddler!

The kids are outside playing hockey on the ice that used to be our yard while I write this.  The dog is at the front door whining to be let out - I've never had a dog so much like a toddler!  I'm serious, just imagine a mostly good natured toddler - no hissy fits or anything - and you basically have our almost 1yr old english bulldog, Larken.  The tricks you use on toddlers work with her as well, I don't mean tricks as in mean things.  You know what I mean, little things like not giving in to outbursts and, well, you know.  It's so funny to me, I haven't had a toddler in the house for years (youngest is now 11), but it all comes back to you!

Also, does anyone else have this problem, or is it just me?  Both our dog and our cat, 4yr old Holly, refuse to drink out of their water bowls!  They use the BATHTUB!  Keeblur used to do that also, but she was my, well, she thought she was human, not a d-o-g.  (Her favorite food, you won't believe this but it is true(!), was brussels sprouts!)  We now have a garden tub in our bathroom so Larken & Holly have to jump up into it to get a drink.  Holly doesn't seem to mind, cat's love climbing and jumping, no big deal.  Sometimes Larken, who is very well capable of climbing into the tub, tries to put on that she can't get in there.  I caught my husband the other day giving her water from the shower, he had taken down the hand-held thing and was letting her drink out of it!  Now she knows that Mom makes her jump in the tub, but Dad will give her the shower head! TODDLER!    By the way, I love toddlers, I don't want comments saying that I don't like toddlers or anything like that.  I just find it to be funny that out of all the dogs we've had (she's the 9th) she's the only one who has acted like that.  We did used to have a cat (Kitty Noelle) that liked to be carried around on his (yes, a he, even though the name) back like you would a baby and up on your shoulder like you would when burping a baby!  But that's a story for another time.
