Well, I was finally able to get some pictures added to my Photo bucket account - so, now I can share some more with you.
I guess I should give a little bit of a recap of this past week:
Tuesday (June 2nd) we took the kids to see Night at The Museum 2 - this was a really great movie .... as good, if not better, than the first one. We have voted this one as a "To Buy" movie.
Wednesday (June 3rd) was our anniversary - Don and I have been married 9 years now. So, Don took us out for supper - we went to Joey's Only and the table they sat us at over looked the marina (we spent an enjoyable evening, just the two of us, having dinner and watching the boats coming and going).
Thursday (June 4th) my Mom came out and spent the day with us - she brought us a dozen beautiful roses for our anniversary and a mixture of flowers for an early birthday present for me.
Friday (June 5th) we were planning on going camping for the weekend, but, so far it has been a fairly wet weekend .... we voted to stay home, where it is warm and dry, lol
Today (June 6th) our plans include heading in to town to watch the Parade - it is Rodeo Weekend in our little town .... this is always cause for great excitement as the population of the town grows for a few days, lol.
Okay, on to some pictures
These are the roses from my Mom.
These are the birthday flowers from my Mom - the picture didn't turn out the greatest .... they look much better in person.
After my Mom left on Thursday, I was wandering around the yard and happened to notice that the apple and crabapple trees had blossoms on them. This picture is from the apple tree.
Here's some blossoms that are on the crabapple tree - Don and I went for a walk last night and as we walked by the two crabapple trees, you could smell the flowers .... and you didn't even have to be that close to the tree - it is going to be loaded with crabapples, lol.
Yesterday, Don and I took a trip in to the Dollar Store - they usually have some Student Planners for cheap, and I was looking for some for the kids. I have done some up on our computer, but if I don't have to print them off .... lol.
There is a space for the subject, the assignment, due date, if it is done, an Activities & Events section, at the bottom is a place for Reminders & Notes.
This picture shows the details a little bit better.
Now for the really great part of this Planner: I really like Dollar Stores, lol.
Well, the excitement just never stops around here - I was hanging clothes out on the line (yayyyyy, it's finally nice enough out to start doing that) and I'm hearing this snapping noise ... first thought that goes through my head is "What are the neighbours up to today?????". Anyway, I go into the house and happen to look out my kitchen window - here is what I see:
I immediately call Don and tell him that the shed is on fire - he tells me to call the Fire Dept. (I was in a panic and my first thought was to call Don). After I called the Fire Dept. I went outside to see how bad it actually was:
This shed is behind our camper - the camper only looks like it is on fire. I ran into the house and told the kids to each pack a quick bag of necessities (Bibles, clothes, anything else that was precious to them) and get it in the Suburban - I wanted to be ready, just in case we needed to evacuate the place (we didn't have to).
A good samaritan was driving by and pulled into our driveway to ask if the Fire Dept. had been called, if we needed any help and then offered to drive down to the corner to make sure they got to the right place.
Here is how the shed looked when I finally decided to come into the house:
They have pretty much knocked the rest of it down, now, and are going through it putting out any hot spots so that they don't flare up later.
The great thing is that no one was hurt - all of us are safe, shaken up, but safe. The downside is that we lost some of our stuff (Christmas tree, all of our decorations, some camping supplies, etc.) but everything that we lost is replaceable. The Volunteer Fire Fighters that came to our rescue were amazing - they made sure that the fire did not spread to either of the houses on the property and to watch them put the fire out was like watching a well oiled machine - they each had a job and they did it. I'm very thankful that they were there in our hour of need. I'm also extremely thankful that we were under God's protective wing, keeping us all safe. Another blessing is that Don was able to leave work and come be with us while this was all happening.
I haven't posted in a while because, in all honesty, there wasn't really anything to write about - everything is going well here, kids are continuing with their studies, no one has been sick (tired, but not sick), Don is working, I'm still working ... same old, same old.
This all changed yesterday when Josh looked out the dining room window and saw this:
I quickly grabbed my camera and quietly rushed over to the livingroom window (all the windows were open in the house and we didn't want to scare it away before we managed to get some pictures) - it was eating grain that our landlord had spilled when he was filling a grain truck the other day. After taking this picture I went out the front door and managed to get these:
That last one was after Josh walked down the front steps - we needed it to leave the yard before Jake (our dog) saw it and took after it ... who knows where he would have ended up, lol.
Last night we also took the kids to the movie - Hannah Montana. It wasn't really one that Josh wanted to see, but the alternatives that were playing were really unacceptable for him to watch - so he joined us for this movie. We were really impressed with it - I was really expecting a lame movie. Charlotte has asked if she can get this one when it comes out on DVD.
This morning when we got up, this is what it looked like outside:
