This Week Posted in Daily Musings
It has been a fairly busy week for us - Monday the kids started their CTBS (Canadian Test of Basic Skills) and then in the evening it was our monthly Parents Night Out with our homeschool support group ... this is always an amazing evening with lots of laughter and support from those who have "been there, done that", lol.
Tuesday we all had eye appointments and three of us ended up getting new glasses - Charlotte is quite disgusted because this is the third year in a row that she has not needed glasses. Don and I have told her over and over to be very grateful that she hasn't needed them, but I don't think she believes us. The kids and I went over to Lori's in the evening to felt the purse.
Wednesday we skipped Mug Up and stayed home to work on the CTBS, if we hadn't taken Tuesday off of school then we probably would have went to Mug Up.
Thursday we worked on the CTBS again, then got a phone call that Josh's glasses were in - so off to the city we went to pick them up. Don got all the rewiring finished on the camper and then got it hooked up to the truck. He also loaded the ATC in the back of the truck.
Today the kids finished their CTBS and now I just need to finish marking it. I made a pan of lemon squares to take to the cattle drive tomorrow (we actually won't be eating them on the cattle drive, they're for after lunch, lol). I also made a big batch of Mexican Hot Chocolate (but haven't tried it yet as it has been to hot today). Another item I made today was homemade Ice Java - coffee flavoured syrup to go in milk or on vanilla ice cream, mmmmmmm. The kids and I have been loading the camper today so that it is all ready for when Don gets home, he can just shower and we can be on our way (hopefully).
Tomorrow is the spring cattle drive - every year the kids look forward to this time of year. It is a chance for them to sleep over at their friends house and then help move the cows from the home quarter out to the lease land where they spend the summer. In all honesty, though, I look forward to the cattle drive as well .... I even book a day off of work for this event, lol.

Iced Coffee Syrup
≈ coffee
≈ water
≈ sugar
***IMPORTANT***: you need a percolator style coffee pot to make this.
DO NOT use a drip style coffee maker to make this syrup!!!!!
* Make one pot of coffee, then discard the grounds.
* Add fresh grounds, percolate again, with the coffee as liquid, not fresh water.
* Do this three times.
* To the finished coffee mixture, add one half the amount of sugar (if you end up with 3 cups coffee mixture, add 1 1/2 cups sugar).
* Mix until sugar is completely dissolved.
* To use: add 2 - 3 tablespoons of syrup to a 10 oz glass of milk, stir to mix and enjoy.
