Learned a new skill
Posted in Family Life
On Sunday evening, after Bible Study was over, I took out my Tatting Shuttle and asked my Minister if this is all I needed to learn how to tat (she has been tatting for many years). She replied that yes it was (oh, I also had crochet cotton wound on the bobbin), she took the shuttle and gave me a very quick lesson on how to tat.
Since Sunday evening, I have been checking out youtube videos and How To books all in an effort to try and learn this new skill. Last night Don tried his hand at it and figured it out - he then showed me what I had been doing wrong (I wasn't getting the knot flipped over the right way). Well, since he showed me how to do that, I have been creating double knots and turning them into rings, lol.
Today, I practiced the double knots some more and then took the next step and tried making picots .... after figuring out how to do that, I have been trying to connect the rings that I have been making. Who knew that making knots could be this much fun, lol.
My mom had told me that this was something that my grandma could do, but sadly she had passed before she could share this knowledge with my mom. Hopefully, I can learn how to tat well enough that I can show my mom how to do it as this is something that she has been wanting to learn for quite some time.
