Can You Believe This??????
Posted in knitting
Last night I sat down with the pattern for the ponytail hat, my knitting needles and my newly dyed wool. Everything was going great - I'm really loving how this wool is working up, actually glad that I went with the green, then we hit a snag .....
Before I tell you what the snag was, let me share some pictures with you:
Josh has been getting tired of Charlotte doing all of the modeling for me, so here he is modeling my new green wool.
Charlotte is holding the wool for me while I roll it into a center pull skein.
 Center pull skein in progress.
The finished ball of yarn and the little thing I use to wind them into center pull skeins. My friend Jill (and her daughter, Sarah), showed me how to do this little trick with the cardboard from a roll of toilet paper. I was telling Don about it and he built me this one out of PVC pipe - it works fantastic, and it doesn't collapse like the toilet paper roll one does.
What I have done so far on my ponytail hat - the green sure looks different, kind of darker ... maybe it was just the lighting.
Here is the snag - this is all I have left of this wool!!! And I still have the decreases to finish - I really don't think that I am meant to use up this stash of inherited yarn.
I actually have a plan to finish it, because I really do want this hat. I am going to frog back to where the ribbing is finished, then I will take a cream colored wool that I have (I know, the yarn was originally cream colored to begin with, lol) and knit some stripes into the crown of the hat.
I really want to get this hat finished - I heard on the news last night that the weather is supposed to get down to -25˚C in the next couple of days. Even though I have this Russian Hat (and believe me, it is a very warm hat), I still want the ponytail hat because, really, can a girl have too many hats????????

Iced Coffee Syrup
≈ coffee
≈ water
≈ sugar
***IMPORTANT***: you need a percolator style coffee pot to make this.
DO NOT use a drip style coffee maker to make this syrup!!!!!
* Make one pot of coffee, then discard the grounds.
* Add fresh grounds, percolate again, with the coffee as liquid, not fresh water.
* Do this three times.
* To the finished coffee mixture, add one half the amount of sugar (if you end up with 3 cups coffee mixture, add 1 1/2 cups sugar).
* Mix until sugar is completely dissolved.
* To use: add 2 - 3 tablespoons of syrup to a 10 oz glass of milk, stir to mix and enjoy.
