Guess What Came In The Mail
Posted in Family Life
Last night Charlotte got a letter from the Christian Camp that we send the kids to during the summer. The new registration forms are in for this year - after reading about the new camps, both kids are asking if they can go. Anyway, after checking out the new registration forms, it looks like both kids will be able to go at the same time and to the same camp.
It is called SKILLS Camp and this is what it says about it:
SKILLS Camp includes all the regular camping experiences with more extensive sessions on outdoor education skills including cookouts, campouts, hiking and canoeing.
Sounds pretty good doesn't it? Don and I figured that since the kids are in Cubs and Scouts, this camp might be a wonderful 'extension' of that - helping to teach them skills that they would need.
The only downside that I am seeing to the kids going to this camp is that it is in August and we start school in August - I suppose, though, that we could just consider this a school activity ... when we were in Grade 5 the schools had a Grade 5 Camp. This could fall under that category, right?????

Right! You could require them to journal their daily activities and it may "jumpstart" your school when they get back as they'll have lots of topics from their camp experience to write about and perhaps spark further interests for learning for the school year :). Just my 2 cents :) Lori D.

That's what I was thinking as well. =) I think we will even go and buy them each a notebook that they would like - make it special for them.

Is this Skills camp a Christian camp? It would be wonderful to have a Christian camp like that.
Hope you have a wonderful week!

Hi Karen - yes this SKILLS Camp will be happening at the Christian Camp that my kids have gone to since 2001. At this Christian Camp, they have different 'Camps' throughout the summer (mainly for different age groups) and this is one that they are offering.
