School today Posted in Homeschooling
The kids started their school day off really well, until they got to math. I'm not sure what it is about this subject, but it is taking them longer and longer each day to complete their lessons. Today we made it to the 4 hour mark!!!!!!!  Color me not impressed!!
At the beginning of our school year, I had done up a schedule for the kids to follow - for some reason or another, we have stopped following it. For the most part, not following that schedule has not really affected how quickly they did their schoolwork. Now I am faced with the task of implementing 'the schedule' back into our lives.   First thing I will need to do is figure out what we have changed for the second part of our school year and then add that into it, taking out what we are no longer working on.
Once I get the new schedule done up, I'll try and remember to share it with you - no promises though, I've been very forgetful lately.  I'm blaming it on being sick lately, but am not entirely sure that that is totally accurate .... maybe old age is setting in, lol.
I'm not exactly looking forward to doing up a new schedule - I mean, figuring out how much time they should have for each subject is not my favorite thing to do. What would take me 10 minutes seems to take them much longer. However, this is something that needs to be done in order for our family to start functioning much better. Wish me luck.

I will be praying for you....my children also hate math and are not very good at it....we are really far behind...but thankfully God knows that and gives us strength for each day.
When I feel like we lost a day on Math, we bake and the kids work on "fractions".

Iced Coffee Syrup
≈ coffee
≈ water
≈ sugar
***IMPORTANT***: you need a percolator style coffee pot to make this.
DO NOT use a drip style coffee maker to make this syrup!!!!!
* Make one pot of coffee, then discard the grounds.
* Add fresh grounds, percolate again, with the coffee as liquid, not fresh water.
* Do this three times.
* To the finished coffee mixture, add one half the amount of sugar (if you end up with 3 cups coffee mixture, add 1 1/2 cups sugar).
* Mix until sugar is completely dissolved.
* To use: add 2 - 3 tablespoons of syrup to a 10 oz glass of milk, stir to mix and enjoy.
