A Tragedy Has Happened Posted in knitting
Probably for non-knitters this won't be much of a tragedy, but I discovered that I won't have enough yarn to finish the Scrawl that I have been working on for my Mom!!!!!!!
Sooooooo, today while we were at Mug Up, I started a new one - it is a lovely shade of grey (a very pale grey) and it is fuzzy (almost like mohair) ..... I'm liking this one a lot, and I haven't even gotten to the lace part of it - there is a very good chance that she won't be getting this one, lol. Hmmmmmmmmm, maybe a gift card for her birthday instead, rofl.
The one that I had originally started will have to be reworked, somehow. I'm kind of thinking that I can rip out the one sleeve (putting in a lifeline before I do that) and then use the yarn from the sleeve to finish the lace back. After the back is done, I'll have to find some yarn that goes with the original yarn and knit the sleeves on. This could be a real test to my knitting skills .... what a way to start the New Year, lol. I honestly thought that I would have had enough of that yarn to finish the whole Scrawl - and I can't even run down to my LYS and pick up some yarn that matches it ... there was no ball bands or information at all to accompany it. On the plus side, though, I am managing to get through some more of the inherited yarn stash that I got from Mom, so that is a good thing.
Okay, I need to go and get the grocery list filled out so that we can go grocery shopping tonight - Don is even taking us out for supper, woooooo hoooooo, no cooking in our house tonight, lol.

Iced Coffee Syrup
≈ coffee
≈ water
≈ sugar
***IMPORTANT***: you need a percolator style coffee pot to make this.
DO NOT use a drip style coffee maker to make this syrup!!!!!
* Make one pot of coffee, then discard the grounds.
* Add fresh grounds, percolate again, with the coffee as liquid, not fresh water.
* Do this three times.
* To the finished coffee mixture, add one half the amount of sugar (if you end up with 3 cups coffee mixture, add 1 1/2 cups sugar).
* Mix until sugar is completely dissolved.
* To use: add 2 - 3 tablespoons of syrup to a 10 oz glass of milk, stir to mix and enjoy.
