My surprise

Yesterday when Don got home from work, he held up a bag and told me "I have a surprise for you", then he asked me to come over and smell the bag - I did and told him that all I could smell was a plastic bag (I had a really bad headache and that was all I seemed to be able to focus on). When I looked inside the bag I was so happy to see that he had bought me a coffee grinder and some Irish Cream flavored coffee beans.

This morning when I went to make coffee, I tried out the new coffee grinder - it makes a much nicer tasting coffee than the bags of coffee grounds that we have been buying, and I can see that I am going to be needing to add a little bit more of the fresh grounds to the basket in my coffee maker. I can also see that this will be the way that we will be getting out coffee from now on.

Mmm, I can almost smell the aroma as I read this. How much of a difference in taste do you notice with grinding your own beans? I imagine that it would be very good.

I noticed a big difference, it tasted much smoother (at least to me it did). I would highly recommend getting a coffee grinder - the smell of the beans alone is almost worth it, lol.

Iced Coffee Syrup
≈ coffee
≈ water
≈ sugar

***IMPORTANT***: you need a percolator style coffee pot to make this.
DO NOT use a drip style coffee maker to make this syrup!!!!!

* Make one pot of coffee, then discard the grounds.
* Add fresh grounds, percolate again, with the coffee as liquid, not fresh water.
* Do this three times.
* To the finished coffee mixture, add one half the amount of sugar (if you end up with 3 cups coffee mixture, add 1 1/2 cups sugar).
* Mix until sugar is completely dissolved.

* To use: add 2 - 3 tablespoons of syrup to a 10 oz glass of milk, stir to mix and enjoy.
