Where did the weekend go????????
Posted in Family Life
I don't think we actually had a weekend - on Saturday, I was working and then on Sunday after Church we went to the cemetery where my Dad is buried (they have his headstone and the bench up there now - it looks really nice), Don and the kids haven't been there since we buried Dad and I wanted to show them where he is. After visiting the cemetery, we went done to my Mom's. She just recently bought a quilting machine, and it was a good thing that Don was there as he is the one who put it together for her.
Her original thought was to put the quilting machine in her sewing room on the main floor - this would have been ideal for her because then all of her sewing stuff would have been together - unfortunately, for that to have happened, we would have had to move one wall about 2 inches out, lol - so, she had Don set it up in the basement instead.
I can't believe all of the stuff she had in her craft/sewing room - I am going to be getting 3 large boxes of yarn, 1 box of craft supplies and about 7 or 8 garbage bags full of yarn. She told me that if I won't use it, then to get rid of it to someone who will - sooooooooo, some of my knitting buddies will be receiving some yarn, so will the Sunday School at our Church and possibly the Cubs & Scouts as well (if the leaders figure that they can use some of the yarn for crafts) - this will all be after I go through it and take out what I want, lol, (ummmmmmm, Don, any idea when we will be building on that extra room?????? Just kidding, lololololol). Since we only had the car with us when we went down there, we will need to go back down to her house on Saturday, before we come home, and pick up all the boxes and bags.
This week is going to be an off week for us in the 'school' department, mainly because it is another busy week for us.
- Tuesday, we have Bible Study (the kids will be taking their schoolwork with them to this) and since we will be in town anyway, we will be stopping in at the Library. We also have swimming lessons in the afternoon and then Cubs & Scouts in the evening (I need to go to this one because they are taking a trip to the new firehouse and since Charlotte is the only girl in Cubs & Scouts this year, they need a female adult to go along with them).
- Wednesday will be a regular school day for us.
- Thursday we will be having Mug Up at Pam's - this normally happens on Wednesdays but had to be switched to a different day due to the kids from that town (not all the kids in the town, lol) have swimming lessons on Wednesdays. Thursday evening we will be packing the camper up for the cattle drive this weekend.
- Friday we are having a Wild Day at a Wildlife Rehabilitation Center near us, then in the evening we will be heading down for the cattle drive.
- Saturday, I am taking the day off of work so that I can go to the cattle drive.

Iced Coffee Syrup
≈ coffee
≈ water
≈ sugar
***IMPORTANT***: you need a percolator style coffee pot to make this.
DO NOT use a drip style coffee maker to make this syrup!!!!!
* Make one pot of coffee, then discard the grounds.
* Add fresh grounds, percolate again, with the coffee as liquid, not fresh water.
* Do this three times.
* To the finished coffee mixture, add one half the amount of sugar (if you end up with 3 cups coffee mixture, add 1 1/2 cups sugar).
* Mix until sugar is completely dissolved.
* To use: add 2 - 3 tablespoons of syrup to a 10 oz glass of milk, stir to mix and enjoy.
