What I am up to today Posted in Daily Musings
A very good friend of mine is taking pity on me today, lol, since I have been by myself since Sunday night, Pam will be taking me shopping in the city today. Actually we had this all planned before everyone in my household left - she needs to do her monthly shopping and I need to have some adult conversation - actually, at this point, any conversation will do, rofl. Some of the stores that we plan to visit are: Costco, Scott's Parables and Wal-Mart. We may go to some others, but those are the main ones that we want to go to.
This morning I woke up and it suddenly hit me (no, it wasn't Jake, lol, he was in his crate, lol) - tonight will be the last night that I am sleeping in the house by myself ... tomorrow everyone will be home - at varying times, of course, but everyone will be home!!!!!!!!!!!!
It actually hasn't been as bad as I initially thought that it would be - don't get me wrong, it has been really different for me (the last time I was in the house all by myself was when both the kids were in public school on the same day - and that was 4 years ago, I think). During the day has been okay, Jake makes sure that I am not bored, lol, but during the night, especially when it is time for bed - that's when it sinks in that we are basically all apart from each other. I'm not sure who is going to be happier when they all come home, me or Jake, lol, Jake will be happy to have the kids home - they play with him a lot more than I do, I'll be happy to have them all home so that I can catch up on all the hugs that I have missed giving them, lol.

Iced Coffee Syrup
≈ coffee
≈ water
≈ sugar
***IMPORTANT***: you need a percolator style coffee pot to make this.
DO NOT use a drip style coffee maker to make this syrup!!!!!
* Make one pot of coffee, then discard the grounds.
* Add fresh grounds, percolate again, with the coffee as liquid, not fresh water.
* Do this three times.
* To the finished coffee mixture, add one half the amount of sugar (if you end up with 3 cups coffee mixture, add 1 1/2 cups sugar).
* Mix until sugar is completely dissolved.
* To use: add 2 - 3 tablespoons of syrup to a 10 oz glass of milk, stir to mix and enjoy.
