What we have been doing today

Today we have all been pretty busy making room for Jake's kennel. We even managed to get a big ol' pillow made for him - I did the cutting and Charlotte used the sewing machine and sewed the sides together (I made sure that there was a hole left so that we could stuff it, lol), I turned it right side out, then she stuffed it and I hand stitched the opening closed. We actually used a bunch of scrap material from my Mom's Christmas present that I am working on to stuff Jake's pillow/bed with, it worked really well and is totally machine washable. This way the scraps won't get thrown out or anything like that and we are following one of the 3 R's (or maybe that is 2 of the 3 R's - Reuse & Recycle, lol, I'm not sure, lol). Charlotte absolutely loved using my sewing machine (it is an old Singer Featherlight - not one of the black ones though, mine is newer than that). I think I am going to have to find some simple projects for her to work on to improve her sewing skills. Any suggestions on beginner projects that she could make? I am trying to instill a new habit in myself - No Bible = No Computer. Basically what I am trying to do is make sure that I read a minimum of 3 chapters in my Bible each day, my 'reward' for doing this is I get to go on the computer - so if I don't do my readings then I don't get to go on the computer and visit with all of you, lol. So far it is going not to bad (only been doing it this week though, lol), I started on Monday and both yesterday and today I read my Bible before the computer was even turned on. |
