We're Adopting!!!!!!!!!!!

Posted in Family Life

Well, it is official - we are adopting a beautiful little boy with the most gorgeous brown eyes!!!!!!  Jake is just over a year old and such a joy to be around.  We just got the confirmation today and we are all soooooooooooooo excited - the couple of times that we have gotten to see him he has been so full of energy and really interested in checking things out (I don't think I have seen a little guy with that much energy for a long while, lol).

Oh, and I managed to snag a picture of him, this was taken at the place where we are adopting him from:

He is a Beagle X and isn't he just the most gorgeous little boy you have seen?  We are hoping that we will be able to pick him up next week, after he goes in for his surgery.  I'm sure that I will have more pictures of him and the kids to post once we get him home.

CONGRATULATIONS! He is a beautiful brown eyed boy. I love his name too. The kids are going to have a blast with him and he will make great company for you when you are all alone in July. I wonder how Sammy will react to him?

Thanks, Pam - we are sure looking forward to getting him, and the kids are already asking "When we go out to the mountains, can we take him with us?". I think they have lots of adventures planned for themselves and Jake, lol.

Don and the kids took her to meet him on Saturday - it was a requirement for adopting him, any other pets we had had to go in a meet him to make sure that they got along (thank goodness we didn't have bring in the outside cats, lol). They both got along well, when they were on their leashes then they would check each other out but when they put them in the 'get to know you yard', he was to busy checking out all the new smells to pay attention to her, lol, and Sammy was just soaking up all the human attention she could, lol.

I absolutely love it when people adopt puppies who need homes. Our little mutt (we found him abandoned on the side of the street as a puppy) is the best dog on Earth. I wish you the best of luck with your new addition.

I think it is great when people can adopt pets, as well. It gives them a second chance with life, lets them know that they are worth something and that they are wanted & loved.

Iced Coffee Syrup

≈ coffee
≈ water
≈ sugar

***IMPORTANT***: you need a percolator style coffee pot to make this.
DO NOT use a drip style coffee maker to make this syrup!!!!!

* Make one pot of coffee, then discard the grounds.
* Add fresh grounds, percolate again, with the coffee as liquid, not fresh water.
* Do this three times.
* To the finished coffee mixture, add one half the amount of sugar (if you end up with 3 cups coffee mixture, add 1 1/2 cups sugar).
* Mix until sugar is completely dissolved.

* To use: add 2 - 3 tablespoons of syrup to a 10 oz glass of milk, stir to mix and enjoy.
