If it was any hotter we would be melting
Posted in Daily Musings
Today is such a hot day out - I mean, we don't feel like doing anything .... except maybe lay around and read a book, lol.
Actually the kids were more inspired than I was today - they rearranged their rooms and cleaned them up. While they were doing this I was inspired to make some Iced Tea Syrup (we were completely out - I know it is shocking, isn't it, lol). As I was slaving over the hot stove making this for my family, I discovered a new appreciation for what my Mom went through every year when she would make homemade strawberry jam (mmmmm, didn't like helping out with that chore but I sure did enjoy the results). While I was making the Iced Tea Syrup I decided to make some Morning Afternoon Night Iced Tea. I first got the recipe while participating in a knitting/tea exchange, I was skeptical at first but decided to go ahead and try it - boy was I ever glad I did, it is a delicious recipe that I have made many times since first receiving it.
All of this writing about Iced Tea made me think about Tea Time. Have you ever wondered about the origin of Tea Time (and just what exactly High and Low tea is), well I found some wonderful information on Tea Time, you should check it out - it's a pretty interesting read.

Iced Coffee Syrup
≈ coffee
≈ water
≈ sugar
***IMPORTANT***: you need a percolator style coffee pot to make this.
DO NOT use a drip style coffee maker to make this syrup!!!!!
* Make one pot of coffee, then discard the grounds.
* Add fresh grounds, percolate again, with the coffee as liquid, not fresh water.
* Do this three times.
* To the finished coffee mixture, add one half the amount of sugar (if you end up with 3 cups coffee mixture, add 1 1/2 cups sugar).
* Mix until sugar is completely dissolved.
* To use: add 2 - 3 tablespoons of syrup to a 10 oz glass of milk, stir to mix and enjoy.
